Does this kit come with a clear coat? Can this be bought at Costco or only online? Thanks

I have only seen it online. Delivery was quick.

Update. I will post some pictures a little later. Floor is holding up fine. No problems even after dropping losts of stuff on it and spilling fluids.

Only thing I have noticed is the apron outside of the garage door has yellowed, as I expected, since it is exposed to sunlight. Other than that, I am still very pleased with the epoxy.

Here is an update. It is holding up well, still looks good and I am well pleased. Excuse the messy shop. Work has been a nightmare and I have not spent a lot of time inside lately. The marks on the floor are where I pulled a wet car inside to dry and wax several weeks ago. A simple mop job will clean it right up.

The only thing I have noticed is I put the epoxy on the entire slab, including the skirt outside of the garage door. The area between the door and the edge of the slab has yellowed from exposure to UV. No break down of the epoxy, it has just turned yellow.

Long and short, it has been a good coating for me, has held up well, and I still recommend it for DIY application.

Hi, I was wondering, I've read, on the Costco site (one reviewer) that it is very difficult to use the brush for the trim, instead, the squegee was better. How did you paint on the edge ?

Once the epoxy is laid down on the floor have someone do your trim while you start on the floor. They say you have about 35 min pot life. I used a brush with no problems, but the epoxy is very thick to work with. Everything worked out great and the floor has a high gloss to it. Good Luck.

Wow, for what I will use my garage for (I don't do mechanics anymore, my garage will only be used to store the car in winter and mostly to reload my 9mm cartridge and do small work on the bench), paying big buck for top notch epoxy was not necessary.

I will surely try that costco stuff soon !! :)

For those of you that have used this product, have you experienced any flaking or patches that come up due to hot tires from your vehicle?

About two years ago I purchased and applied the Quikrete Garage Floor Epoxy Kit from Lowes. It is of the water-based variety. I followed the directions completely, then about a month or so after application, I noticed areas where the coating began to come up beneath the tires where we parked our cars. Two years later, and now I have a floor that is 80% covered with the coating and 20% (areas where the hot tires sit upon returning home) has flaked up to show the original concrete floor. I've read in other forums that this is somewhat typical with the water-based varieties. I'd like to re-do the floor with this brand, but wanted to make sure the same problems wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my question!!!

I used the big box bought Rustoleum brand about 6 years ago. It looks decent where there is no traffic; it looks like hell where the car is parked. I think any of the "lower priced" kits are fine, just plan on recoating every couple of years if you want it to look good. Hot tire pickup is almost a guaranteed problem. I would guess you will continue to have this issue even after your recoat. I am going to spend the money to do my floor in a manner that will last many years.

Hey ice,

Yeah, that is my current dilemma - do i spend another $70 to buy another Quikrete kit at Lowes and use that to mix small batches and touch up the areas every 6 months or so, or do I spend the $250 for the Costco EpoxyMaster kit and redo the entire floor in the hopes that the resin based will hold up a helluva lot better than the water based. Right now I'm leaning towards getting the EpoxyMaster but wanted to get an idea from those who have used it on the durability with hot tires and such.

OK, my garage is about 560 ft^2. The Costco kit specs 480 ft^2 @ 10 mils.

Question, could I get by with ~8 mils to stretch one kit to cover my square footage? How would I get it to work out to 8 mils, or for that matter, how do you get it to work out to 10 mils? Would no primer and/or top coat be a problem.

Garage opens to the north, so I don't think sun would be a problem. My garage gets very light use, just light mechanical and some wood working. The last 2 miles to my house is dirt/gravel. I don't think hot tires will be a problem, but don't know for sure. Just don't want to spend a lot to control dust and a few oil spots!

Getting ready to prep in a few days. Can you provide a little more information on the floor scrubber? Did you just use a concrete wash and scrub it with the machine? Also, did you just dump the acid on the floor and then use the scrub to "brush" it in and rinse it afterwards? Lastly, on the non-slip, did you end up just mixing it in with the epoxy prior to dumping it on the floor or do some other method? The help is appreciated....plan on having two friends help me do the actual applying of epoxy. Thanks.

Re: EpoxyMaster, aka Costco brand - not anymore - but at Meijer

I've been waiting for a couple years to do this and it is not available on the Costco website anymore (bookmark takes you to home page). For those in the midwest, it is available at Meijer or online at meijer.

I haven't decided if I will order from EpoxyMaster directly (more colour choices) or save $40 at Meijer.

I have the Quikrete on my floor and after 4 years it looks great where I don't park my cars. These are daily use cars (can't afford toys like the rest of you!) and have ruined the floor 50%. Countless hours of reviews and pictures have convinced me that EpoxyMaster is the next one to try. Just need to find a shotblaster or diamond grinder, a second friend to push paint or trim, and several days of good weather to attack it.

So it seems! This must be very recent as I was recently reading all the reviews for tips from the USA COSTCO.COM this weekend before putting it down on my floor. Now it is off the site.

I am from Canada and of course COSTCO.CA has it on sale for $40 off now & it is a different product # (different reviews). So they may not be carrying it soon as well, I dunno?

You can see my results with this product in this thread I started for some advice on prep:

This is why I always recommend 100% solids epoxy. Hot tire lift won't be a problem. I've installed plenty of epoxy in heavy diesel shops to prove it. Getting a kit with a clear primer epoxy as a first coat helps as well.

Look like your friend had a little experience with his garage :)

This is a great product but make sure to listen to Sebastian and don't leave it in the bucket. Either mix it in small amounts or mix and pour it all at at once!

I also have to say the customer service from the owner "Tony" is outstanding.

Here are a few pics of my floor :)

Hey DIYJARD,

Your garage looks great! My garage is about the same size. How many kits did you end up using?
