Epstein Day 2021

OK, NEW YEAR, it's time to crank up the plans for Epstein Day 2021 and start a new thread.

I just want to point out that SK tools turns 100 years old this year and they better get off of their *** and release some new products to celebrate the milestone, Covid or NO Covid.

I'll settle for some 100 year SK Swag though.

In all seriousness, Covid and the effects of it on everyone might prevent our annual celebration of seared flesh, apple pie, American made tools, Fireworks and Independence day but, maybe not. What say you?

Has SK been bought by a Chinese company?

I have a question for jsackin about Valley Industries White Navy Box. I have been on the lookout for a metal suitcase style box for a tool box. Are these constructed heavy enough to be used to carry metal hand tools(like similar in construction to any of the other steel tool boxes you got in that surplus deal)? The latches on it seem to suggest they can carry some weight, but it's hard for me to be sure without seeing it in person. Thanks.
They're made out of 7/64" steel. Very heavy duty. All I know about them was that they were made for the navy but no one at the warehouse remembered what they were actually made for.

Impressive. Looks like it might be just what I'm looking for.

Jori.... Any chance you guys are going to start carrying more of the Enderes tool line? It's one of the few American made companies that I never hear people talking about. I've always liked their screwdrivers.

We used to sell a lot of their blacksmithing tools but Enderes decided that they wanted to retail them themselves. We carry just a few of their bars right now, but it might be worth looking into again. It's a great company and those multi screwdrivers look pretty handy.

Just got my son in law his first tool kit most of it came from Epstiens. Nice Pioneer box and it included items my daughter remembered me buying at Epsteins when she was along. She used to love the visits there too. Looks like I need to add a couple of more items this Epsteins day.

It is amazing what kids are not taught these days. He had some car issues before they were married and he called my daughter who came over with her tool kit and with the help of google fixed it. The other time was get your jumper cables out and I will come over. It was what are jumper cables. You will find out.

Don't get me started. We have a couple of new hires at work and today I handed them some c-clamps to clamp a couple of platforms together and they were totally baffled as to what there were and how to use them.

Anyway I'm looking forward to another Epstein Day, this will be 3 in a row for me.

Just got off the phone with the owner of Enderes. Had a great conversation and we're going to start buying more from them. They've retooled some of their 6 in 1 screwdrivers which should be coming out in a few months and they're also working on anvils and other exciting stuff so your GJ comment got them a good amount of business :)

Well that is great to read! For the money, I really love the Enderes 6 in 1. I think that I have about a half dozen spread around my home and office. The quality is great for the price and they feel great in your hand.

I would love for them to come out with a set of fixed-blade torx drivers but I don't see them on their site. Of course, their catalog is still from 2016, so some new products would be great to see.

Mine (from the Navy) isn't steel. When I was in, they were used for different tool box "kits" (flightline hand tools, hydraulic adapters, etc), and had inserts in them. You would check out the whole box for the job. Very heavy duty, though.

Yeah, I seem to keep accumulating them.

Enderes makes good tools, been my go-to driver for over 20 years.

Does this qualify as US made? Found one under a shelf today.

Remember when.... products made in Japan were considered junk by most Americans?

You guys should have an in house contest to see who can find the oldest product in the buildings. I'm taking a WAG but I am willing to bet it is post abacus and pre computer. :)

Steve can't play because he will say... "Yep, I carried those in and sit it there, when I was eight years old".

Epstein's Day is rapidly approaching so I just wanted to lay out the standard FAQ guidelines that have developed over the years.

  • "When is it?" ⏰
    • Since July 4th falls on a Sunday, Epstein Dayz will start on Friday (04/02) and go through Sunday (04/04) which means Epstein's Day officially begins 12:01 central time for those that like to get their orders in early......
.....
Does it start on April 2nd (04/02)? Or does that mean something else?

Thanks

We don't have fixed blade torx drivers yet, but I am working on it. I have been working on filling in what I thought were all of the missing sizes of fixed blade screwdrivers that Enderes had. Within a couple of months, we should be up to 26 or 27 different sizes of fixed blade screwdrivers. While we don't have torx drivers yet, we may have the next best thing (or maybe even better). We pressed a locking bit holder into one of our fixed blade handles. This allows the user to use any size, and length of hex power bit. I have been using them with T10 x 2" bits for changing out the small screws that hold our tooling into our swiss machines and cnc lathes. It works great. When the bit wears, just change it out. I have made a prototype of a stubby screwdriver the same way

Just stopped by HJE yesterday. Thanks to Jori for telling us to wander around, and it was great meeting the people there.

We were on our way home from vacation, and I had my wife and son and daughter along. We had a ball of fun just walking around looking at all the tools. I didn't buy as much as my wife and my son and daughter did.

Its well worth your time for a stop by.

I got two funnels, one is a big one with a balance ring on it, I think is going to be great for pouring fluids from 5 gal pails. I also got some nice looking pics- they are labeled as scribes, but I'm going to use them as seal picks for rebuilding hyd. cylinders.

We also got 4 red stack on USA built tool boxes, they've got reinforced corners and are really slick. My wife and the three kids each got one, I'm the only one without one. They are a great box.

Wife also got a dust broom and dustpan. " Where was this 20 years ago- instead of the plastic junk I've always had- this is coming home with us!" was my wife's comment. My youngest daughter also got one, she is headed to college next fall, and doesn't have a house yet, but still wanted the broom and pan.

Thanks to epstiens for a fun afternoon for me and my family. We seriously had a ball.

My assumption is they all sold out... seems to be what happened to a few of the items I was watching.

that was my thought also but there's other items on the website that lists stock qty as 0, so that makes me doubt that as to why they completely disappeared.

oh well, i can always divert that money into my AR10 build

This post explains how it works on the previous page. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/epstein-day-2021.472550/post-9117026
It's a way to support a small business in Kansas City that sells a lot of great tools, many of which are American made. They have a lot of new stuff and a lot of new old stock at great prices. If you haven't checked out their website it's well worth the look.

Thank you! That makes much more sense. I was thinking political when I saw the title, but I'm glad it's not.

The Made in Occupied Japan stamp is a post WWII era marking from when MacArthur was appointed to oversee reconstruction. Believe it out not some MIOJ items are considered collectable.

They look like first aid kit boxes that can be hand carried or bolted to walls.
