Thank you once again Jori for Epstein Day this year. For me and I imagine a great deal of individuals here this is about supporting a small family run business and supporting American manufactured products. Frankly I try to go out of my way not to go these big box multi national giant corporations.

here’s my pre Epstein’s Day product recommendation: https://www.harryepstein.com/us-military-cold-weather-fleece-medium-1.html

Comfortable and warm and HJE has them for about 1/3 the price everyone else sells them for. They button into an army coat like this and I’ve been having fun sewing buttons into my other jackets to hold them the same way.

I’ve also noticed there’s a trend this year for people my age to wear these as an outer layer including my girlfriend but that’s neither here nor there.

My code works. It's not a bad joke. As far as saving...so far, it's $20.61 off the total price. That's like .5% (make note of the point before the 5) off the total. Perhaps they are still working on things. I'll check in and, eventually, check out some time later on. Have yourselves a fun one! God Bless to you and yours!

very respectfully,
J.J.

Okay, okay, I'll admit it. My math was off by a so-so margin. To include shipping, it'd be a savings of about 1.68%. It's not a lot of close outs in my cart. Hmm...I might add some more...

Okay, this should be the last post of the night. Later, all!
Grab a **** meter and it will help the percentage. 👍

I revisited the closeout section and added some nice things. On the other hand, I can almost guarantee that some of what's in the cart, I already have. If I happen to have two of the same pin punch and I got the second for $1.87 (for example,) would I be foolish, prepared or both (my money's on both.)

After adding a bunch of closeouts and including the shipping, the secret code rated me a discount of 3.8% off. Yes, things are dramatically cheaper than many (most places.) Yes, this doesn't include the GJ membership discounts (thank you all for your acceptance of a **** like me.) Yes, the majority of the items in my cart are not clearance items (in both dollars and quantity.) Yes, this doesn't include future slashes of prices (because HJE is awesome like that.) Yes, it is very possible that they could message back and say "Hey there, instead of $144 shipping, we can get it there for...$100." or something like that. The point being, I can not and should not make my comparisons of the Super Secret code to the present "final" cost. Things will be fine.

Who knows? I might win the drill bit set. Also! I expect stickers!! Haha! Cool, cool. I think I'll press submit.

Have a fun one, everyone! God Bless to you and yours!

very respectfully,
J.J.

I LOVE this! I can’t believe I live 3 1/2 hours from HJE and had never even heard of it until joining GJ and reading this thread. This type of business is what we need more of here. I miss the days of heading “downtown“ to shop at small locally owned businesses. Now I’m actually looking forward to the next trip to KC!
Welcome to GJ and have a great time at HJE. I'm right at 3 hours and get there several times a year, great people and superb place for tool lovers :)

In their viideo, Mr. Steve and Jori mentioned some of the things that are on sale. They also mentioned categories/brands that may be on sale. Obviously, this isn't a GJ; it's one's who have the secret ring, but all closeouts are 15% off from normal price.

I think it's fun to find the secret sales. Relatedly, I don't know if this is only for me, but last year's sales seem to still be active (obviously, this is for those items that are still leftover from the past year.)

I'd love to hang out, but I am presently exhausted. Have a fun one. God Bless to you and yours!

very respectfully

What’s everyone going to order this year? Last year, I pretty much bought all of the odds and ends on my wishlist. Looking for a little inspiration this year.

This out of nostalgia... my dad had something similar when I was a kid.
https://www.harryepstein.com/lufkin-6-home-shop-universal-folding-rule-2.html

Probably a set of these... looks like handy little booger-diggers.

I keep eyeballing these, haven't pulled the trigger yet.

This, because why not more long pokey things?

And definitely some pocket prybars:

Who knows what else I may add.

I've a huge list. Some can be categorized, whilst some I don't want to mention because there are only one or two left (as of two night ago; some may already be gone/out.)

As far as Mr. (I assume) Jawn's picks (no pun intended - he want to buy that scriber and the picks set,) here's my take/information.

My commentary on Snap-on scriber is it appears to be pretty good. I use mine to coif my beard with it. Do you think I am joking? I'm not that smart to make such a specific joke. I hope to use it to scribe when I start welding. It appears that it would make a fine scriber, but, as you could probably tell from the pictures, it probably won't do a good job as a punch (it might...Snap-on you...). Notwithstanding, it feels to be quite solid.

The Ulmer pick set, as you can see from the site, is made from "Global components." That'll be your call. They issued that same set to me as a diesel mechanic apprentice. Along with everything they issued to me, I don't use them. I use the tiny screwdriver I keep in my chest pocket. If, for whatever reason, the task requires a pick, there are picks around the shop; I have been known to use them. I have a different pick set in the back of my borrowed Jeep, but I don't use them because, well, the set is in the back of the Jeep and I seem to have all I need in the shop. Again, no one needs my permission/approval to purchase anything; everyone should have the right to get what they need/want, as long as they can afford it. I feel that it's best for one to operate/purchase with having more information rather than having less.

That AJAX bit set looks pretty nice. It might be possible that the inventory is a bit (no pun intended) off, but it's too bad that the site says "Availability: 0 In stock" on the set. I am not sure if this is something that is orderable. I hope it is.

Is it midnight yet? Can I order yet? Do you guys (and/or gals - ladies are usually welcomed into my circles) want to see what's in my cart?

Oops. This was supposed to be a small message. Oh well. Here you go, all.

very respectfully,
J.J.

Well, it's past midnight somewhere. I pressed submit. If you all don't mind, I would like to be the first to publish my number of purchase (I don't like the word "order"; blame it on my time in the uniformed services.) My number is:

000063202

Yippee! I've lots of great American (and a few Indian) made tools on the way!

Would you all like to see what I expect to be in the mail soon enough?

Oh no! My accountability of days of the month is messed up more than I thought. I guess I can call them and ask them "Uhh...if you could be so kind to not send me those awesome tools and such until next week. Even though I am a goofball, but I don't want to be missing out on the festivities. Would this be possible?" and hopefully it can be.

Also, I am concerned about missing out on a few tools. There are only 1-2 of the OTC hub sockets. Also, there is only one of the Wright ratchets that I want (and, maybe, need, but I am not too proud to say that it is more of a want.) Yes, I know that they could always order some more if need be. I didn't feel like risking it. I hate juuuust missing out of something I've already made plans on buying. With HJE, this has happened to me twice. It took, like, four months to get a restock of the medium-sized Rudedog 2" belts. The last I checked, they are still out of the Wright 3/4" female to 1" male conversion impact sockets. When stuff like this happens, it irks me. Yes, they told me that the Rudedog belt went to a nice father who walked into the shop with his nice family. This made me feel better, but if I can prevent waiting months for something I want/need, I try to make every attempt to prevent it.

I guess another reason is yesterday, I had been telling myself "Okay, this is my Friday. Tomorrow I don't work, so tomorrow is my Saturday." Perhaps, I unconsciously convinced myself that today is Saturday.

Whatever the case, perhaps, I'll make another order. If any more awesome deals appear, I'll probably take advantage of them as well. Not to belittle anyone interested in this nor the item itself, I cannot presently think of any use for a **** Meter for my circumstances/needs. If anyone wants to explain any advantages/uses of one, I'd gladly listen. Getting back on subject, I'm still ready to party.

very respectfully and accidentally prematurely,
J.J.

I think a premature Epstein's Day order might be a first but, your heart's in the right place.

Usually if HJE is out of something, which happens because their order volume peaks for the year over July 4, they'll order what you order so, it might delay receiving your goodness. I waited several months last year for a Wright metric wrench set because, Wright was backlogged.

That looks like a great pick, Mr. Lee. I wonder how I missed that. I'm adding it to my newly empty box. I've been looking for affordable Freedom-made (that's my term, but feel free to adopt it as your own) come-alongs for quite a long time. I would consider $77.55 to be very affordable for a used one. On the other hand, that, all shiney, new, being made here (reportedly) in the good old U.S. of A (without any mention of supposed "global component") right there is a winner. Also, there seems to be 12 in stock. That means I don't have to be all "Hey, Mr. Steve. Can you add this come-along to the bill? Thanks, sir!" It can wait until next paycheck. It'd would have been nice if it came with a supporting hook, but finding hooks connected to a steel wheel that was/is made in a Freedom-loving country should be easy enough.

By the way, if anyone cares, Mr. Steve says that he'd be willing to work with me. With that said, I think it might be rude to open the flood gates this early. It would ruin the reason for the season, if you will, if everyone expected exceptions. Does this make sense?

Your order number is: 000063271.

And an ode to HJE:

On the Fourth of July, we celebrate our nation with fireworks, parades, and family reunion. We honor the brave who fought for our freedom, and the Declaration that made us one union.

But if you need some tools to fix your home or car, there’s a place in Kansas City that’s not too far. It’s Harry J Epstein, a store with a history, they sell American-made hand tools with quality.

So whether you need a hammer, a wrench, or a drill, you can find it at Epstein’s, they have the skill. They’re a fourth generation family-owned business, and they’ll treat you like a friend, not a witness.

So this July 4th, remember to have some fun, But don’t forget to visit Harry J Epstein when you’re done. They’ll help you with your projects and make you smile, and you’ll be supporting a local store with style.
