ernst gripper racks

just how much do these grip the wrenchs?? i like 1 hand removal but there space saver racks use the independent rails.. im not sure if i like that.. than there "normal" racks are perfect but the dont make a foward and revese pattern so you end up wasting space..

so the question is how do they grip? are they hard to get out.. and can you just not push the wrenches all the way down to avoid getting locked in.. thanks

i searched a ton of threads and could not find the answers to these specific questions

Ever use the ones that come with SK wrenches? Same thing.

They hold them tight enough that you can pull them out of the box, carry them over to the work area, and not worry about wrenches falling to the floor. I like them a lot.

Summit Racing is a good place to get them from, nice and cheap there.

Don't just go by the number of slots in it when buying though. I've noticed some sites just will say 5 slot, or 7 slot, but some are for smaller wrenches. Check out Ernst's catalog, and order using the part numbers from it to be safe.

I have 4 of the ernst wrench racks and like then a lot. They hold firm, but you can get out with one hand.

They will hold wrenches well enough that you can carry the rack around without fear of them falling out. Wrenches can be removed and replaced with one hand. I've probably got half a dozen of them and really like them.

I agree with everthing that has been said by the posters above me. X2 for purchasing from Summit racing. Look for them on ebay Summit sells them there pretty cheap.

You'll love them, I really do. Not to grippy, just enough. Not affected by cold. Easy to get a wrench out with one hand. I have a few of those and the low profile individual rails for a Williams set to 1 1/4. Was afraid I couldn't fit the huge williams beams in the grippers and in a short drawer. They're ok, kind of a last resort. The smaller wrenchs tend to move around.

I can hold my gripper rack upside down and they don't slip out. Its the perfect blend of firm and flexible.

I didnt have as many as i thought i did, after i move into my classic 96 i will be replacing all of my racks with ernst.

Are the ernst racks plastic some what flexable as compared to the hard pastic cheap ones that often come with wrench sets. I have an older MAC red rack that has softer palstic. Thats what I`m looking for.

The gripper racks are soft plastic and flexible. I have several, including the stubby racks. No complaints at all. I will second buying them from Summit, thats where all mine came from.

If you aren't going to move the whole rack the regular wrench holders are great, and priced right. If they just made a regular reverse I would be in heaven I do have the 40 wrench forward / reverse pair for the larger bulkier wrenches.

I have the SnapOn/Blue point relabeled 15 wrench versions in one of my home tool carts.

The gripper racks have 2 positions lock where you can carry the entire rack by the handle with with none of the wrenches falling out and unlock where the wrench will sit up above higher than the rest of the wrenches that are locked down
For easier access.

Scooter they are made out of a soft plastic or nylon

I have 7 -21mm and 3/8 - 1 1/4" Williams Super Combo's in mine
They only advertise them fitting 19 or 20mm, 1- 1 1/8" but 21 and 1 1/4 fit in them just fine for me.
