Ernst pliers rack

Looking into organizing my pliers drawer and some of the options available. There are plenty of threads discussing the typical wire pliers racks but not really finding much on the Ernst pliers rack and how folks like or dislike the Ernst pliers rack.

I have a few of them too and completely agree with needing a 4" deep drawer. Otherwise they only work for small stuff.

Is there much of a difference between the racks sold by Ernst and ML Tool? Snap-On has them as well but I suspect that are the same as the Ernst.

I use the MTS magnetic plier racks and really like them, although they are a tad on the pricey side. Only issue, the handles on some of my pliers are too thick to fit in the slots, so I put the plier end in the rack on those.

I have them and like them. I also have used old CD racks that have been cut down, I use those for the small pliers and cutters

Ernst plier racks are good to go. Here's mine. You will need a minimum of 4 inch drawer height for sure.

Thanks! I buy tools to use them but not beat the hell out of them. The containers are safety wire of varying sizes. Race cars and aircraft= lots of safety wire!

I think I am going to ditch my wire plier rack in favor for the Ernst plier rack, from the pics above the pliers seem to fit better, the aviation snips in particular

Another good use for these ernst/snap-on plier racks is to store large wrenches 1 1/2"+ on their side in the drawer.

The only drawback is that spring-opening pliers don't sit well in the slots.

I solved that problem by making up some wire tie restrictors that I slip over the handles to keep them closed for storage. Just slip them off for use and slip back on when done. Little bit of a pain but nearly as much as trying to open a drawer with one of thos buggers stuck open.

I did the same with little zip ties

So are these capable of holding comfort grip handled pliers? The bulk majority of my pliers all have the comfort grip handles and they're too thick to fit handle-first in the plyworx rack that is offered.

Whatever trips your trigger and works. I used the wireties/zipties because they won't dry out over time as rubber bands can. But if they work for you that's great too.
