Hello,

Last month I picked up a new tool cart. I know how messy I can be, so I want to get the cart organized before it has a chance to get our of control. Keeping it clean will take a plan and the right organizers. I've picked out the Ernst wrench and screwdriver rails that will do what I want, but I haven't decided how to secure them to the cart. Should I get them with the double sided tape or the magnetic tape? Does anyone have experience to share? I plan to keep drawer liners under the rails. Are the magnets strong enough to hold through the liner? Does the tape fail over time?

Thanks,
Ed

Thank you both for the replies. Has anyone used the double sided tape version? The biggest downside that I see there is that once you put them down, they won't be easy to adjust.

I have the wrench holders with the magnet and drawer liners. Did not want the tape for the reason you posted, not being able to move them.
I found that once you have the wrenches in place, the weight of them holds them secure. Maybe if you pull most of them out it would become an issue, but I've never run into that situation. I have the 40 wrench (2 20 racks) FYI.

I my wrench rails taped. Once you install them, I don't see a reason to move them around. Get everything laid out and planned where you want it, then tape them down. In my wrench drawers though, I don't use the liners like I do in other drawers. If you need to move them, peel them up using a razor and put on new tape. Make sure to clean the area with alcohol before you apply. I don't recall mine coming with tape though, I think I had to use some VHB tape I had laying around, so I just put 2-3 1" strips on each rail.

I just wrench at home, and in my small box I riveted both my socket rails & wrench racks over the drawer liners in their respective drawers. I still have room in these drawers for additions b/c I've split SAE and Metric apart from one another.

I might also add, that i've got some additional empty rails and racks riveted in there as well, just in case of future expansion.
