Eron Vise???

Anybody know anything about Eron vises? I got a lead on a 6 incher. USA? Good bad or what? New, Old?

Ive seen a few nice Japanese vises at yard sales or flea markets they seem to be better built than china made stuff but I have never owned one. If it looks like that I would say china all the way and not worth your money. Then again how much are you spending? How will you be using it? If you get it for $10 and dont plan on beating the **** out of it I would say go for it.

Ok found this old catalog on ebay. Says Japanese but who knows now. Do you have any numbers or pictures? Im no vise expert so going off of what I have learned here. Maybe someone with more knowledge will step in soon and help us out, I'm interested now.

If that vise is Eron Japan then a good quality vise if one can infer quality from the machine vises they produce.

The Eron is a decent vise and better quality than anything else I've seen from Asia. I've had one for years I picked up at a pawn shop for $35 and it works fine.

Anyone notice they spell it "vice" in their catalog.

that's the British spelling if I'm not mistaken. looks like a Record copy anyway.

I've had my Eron vise for so long I can't remember when and where I bought it. But I can tell you I beat the livin s&#t out of this thing and it has never given me any problems. I use the slider guide as an anvil for very nice squared bends and anything else that gets in my way.
Even though I just bought a NOS Wilton 1750, I wouldn't pass up the chance to get another Eron vise.

I've had an Eron #150 vise for many years and have beat the immortal heck out of it. 6" jaw width. Wish I could find another one. Excellent quality and strength. They are Japanese. I'll try and post a pic of it before too long.

I have a pretty nice Eron milling machine vise - made in Japan, tight & very well made. I would recommend.

Looking at this 4" Eron 100 on fleabay I see why one may consider using the slide channel as an anvil and it even holding up when doing so....
Man' its really a nice thick channel & I'm sure a large model would have some real weight too it too.

Sorry, really old thread, but it seemed like a good place for this as Eron info seems to generally be scarce.

Here's the ERON 200 8" vise that I gave my Dad new for Christmas in 1969, paid $75 back then.
Thing is massive, he beat on it for decades, but he worked wood a lot, so it's still fairly unblemished and in original paint.
That slider rail makes an excellent anvil.
