does anybody know the maker of these jacks? There's an estate auction this weekend selling tools and I was thinking of attending but wanted to do my research first. This would be the first ever auction I go to. Tips and suggestions would be appreciated also.

Don't buy used import jacks. most of the time they are junk. Go and get a new one, and if it craps out take it back. PS save slip.

Auctions are unpredictable, so I never say don't buy, just set a reasonable max bid BEFORE the bidding starts and stick to it.

Been using an Allied jack since 1987. Can't speak to the newer ones, but mine was made in Taiwan rather than mainland China, and has been a pretty good tool for what I paid for it way back then.

Now of course 24 years later it's needing some work. It jacks up fine but leaks down under load pretty quickly, guess I'll have to send a message to Hiball.

The Foot Pedal is Not connected to the Hydraulic Portion of the Jack, Its connected to the Lifting arm and when you Push it down it lifts the Arm while Pulling Hydraulic fluid into the cylinder and then the pressure seats a Ball/Seat to maintain the Height. Its a Mickey Mouse "Quick Lift" feature.. and the few i have worked on always have the same problem, The Metal spade that keeps the ball from leaving he seat loosens and allows the ball to fall out. Its a Easy fix but requires being Torn down completely.

thanks for the help guys. The place is probably about 45 min. away so I think I'll pass on this auction after looking at a lot of the other tools. Mostly your regular homeowner type tools.

Hi
Looks just like my Allied jack. It's made in China, and a Cali company imported it. Now discontinued, seals, and other parts are no longer available. The model number should be on the silver tag on the side. Google them and verify with the model number.

Just so there is NO confusion, Seals are available individually through many Hydraulic Seal companies, unfortunately they dont make "Rebuild" kits for these jacks generally because they have no interest in there Customers rebuilding these jacks. They would much rather have you buy another New Jack versus fix a older one.
