Estate sale find

My dad is a huge fan of estate sales and knew that my wife has been looking for a sunfish sailboat for some time. He found one in decent condition and we met him over at the sale. While my wife was looking at the boat, I decided to poke around in the garage. I found these two neat old signs... got 'em for $1 each.

Cool stuff! Those are dealer racks from obviously an old proto dealer. I'd say judging by the logo sometime in the 60's or 70's. Those are the display wracks they used to hang the inventory on. Neat stuff! Good find for sure!

Cool find. My wife's grandfather gave me his old Proto tool set (5/16 thru 1 1/4" wrenches) before he passed away. It'd look mighty good hanging on a rack like the one on the right... Hmm, might have to make me one. Right now they're in the Proto roll up wrapper...

I think I would take the wrench rack to a Proto dealer and see if the new combo wrenches would match the pattern, if they did, a combo set would become a must have item for me.

When I was in the industrial tool business, those Proto boards were used in the show room to display Protos various products that were for sale. If memory serves me correctly (it was in 1971 or so) there was a total of about 45 DIFFERENT boards.

Wrenches, pullers, punches, hammers, sockets; (deep and six point) enough different types of tools to fill a good size tool box.

I know; I have a BIG tool box full of Proto tools!!

Nice find! You can get the Proto wrenches for those boards at estate and garage sales all the time. Ahh.. the thrill of the hunt! Good luck!

Gee, Guess you gotta tell the Mrs. That you need a set of Proto wrenches to make it authentic

We have one like this for sockets at school. Ill get a camera phone pic tommorow or something if you guys really want. Its pretty sweet. Same color, with little hooks for sockets. We only use it for random spares laying around, but its cool none the less
