Estate Sale Finds!

My wife and I went to an estate sale in Potomac, MD this morning. I made a couple cool purchases:

This is the garage, which, of course, made me drool:

Want to guess what is under the cover?

Some of the prices were not very good.

I did pick up these though:

Just kidding, it was already sold!

The two sets of SS screws were $45, probably $200+ worth of metric screws, nuts and washers that I am always needing.

The other sets of screws and misc fasteners were all standard, so no use to me.

same here...i seem to always find the need for SS hardware that I don't have on hand. Btw I saw the first picture with the car covered and I pretty much knew what car it was LOL. Then I saw the tire pics. That just verified my guess. Although, I was expecting it to be blue with white stripes...didn't see that brushed look coming.

I would have grabbed the Pela 650 extractor too...

You're not the only one with an affinity for SS hardware. I found a dozen 304SS 3/8"x6" carriage bolts at a thrift store yesterday. I prefer 316L stainless bolts for my projects, but for <$4 I couldn't pass up the box of 304SS carriage bolts. Got them home, and found that they came with half a dozen 304SS nuts and washers. I hate it when that happens!

That's a ton of fasteners. It looks like the guy was quite meticulous.


I too figured it was something ******* and had a roll bar. My guess was a Cobra and once I saw the spare set of wells, I knew it was. I'm guessing the guy passed unexpectedly.

The label on the cases I got said "316 SS", so I am pretty sure that is true. He was obviously ****. I am surprised he was selling it all!

I've found some great deals at estate sales. I love going and buying ****. Thankfully the wife does too, so it's something we enjoy together. Auctions is another one we do.

Anyhow, nice score on the screws.

In regards to the Cobra, it is most likely a replica. Looks like he was using it for racing and I doubt too many guys are going to thrash on them too hard if original. I wouldn't. However, a replica I would run to the ragged edge. Replica or not, still just as cool and as much fun...just a different value.

According to the web site it was a 2005 replica of the 65 in all aluminum.

Sears puts them on sale for $99.99 each.

Only company I know that does the brushed aluminum is Kirkham out of Utah. Very nice cars and I know a lot of the replicas get drove hard. I even know of a few originals that see it too.
