Just spotted these today @ HD, the 2 on the left are Taiwan but the 3 larger models are Japan. The 2 largest had a bull's head forged into the steel in a small circular depression.

Who is the oem for these? I like how they felt in the hand.

I wonder what happened to Estwing's Made in the USA commitment? Their catalog has a large USA flag on the cover plus the letters American Made at least 1/2" high. Page two of the catalog has the following sentence: "Estwing began and is still located in Rockford, Illinois, and we are committed to keeping our tools “Made in the U.S.A.”"

Last flat bar/puller I got was made in China or Taiwan (Estwing)... either way it works great. I hope they keep their hammers made in the US.

The hickory handled Estwing hammers are Taiwan. I got a solid metal 20oz. rip hammer with leather grip and it's made in USA.

Not sure who's idea it was to plate them but it peels right off with a few hammer strikes.

Actually best deal on those cat's paw are at Walmart. Not sure if brand was Stanley or what . . . . but I beat the hell out of them and they keep on tickin' !!! ;)

There is even better deal on pair of pry bars that are Made In USA and yes sold at Walmart.

I have one of the made in Japan cat's paw and it has been used to tear out siding, a couple of decks, fences, and assorted odds and ends. So far no issues with it.

Had to pull and save a lot of trim from a bathroom job I'm working on, was at HD to get other supplies and grabbed the molding bar (center in my above pic). I like Japanese tools, and had wanted to give these a try.

My impressions- the bar is good in close spaces, like between a toilet and a wall. The rubber grip is a nice feature and seems solid. The finish quality of this bar is flawless, I thought it was too pretty. But as Skin mentioned, chrome is already chipped on the flat face being used as a hammer. I accept responsibility for that blatant disregard of my tool's well being.

The bar works well, and has a nice balance. Despite non-USA coo, I give it 4 of 5 stars, would have been perfect if chrome didn't chip 1st time tool was used.
