I have my EV ChargePoint mounted to the wall but I hate having he cables laying on the ground. They get in the way when you are getting in and out of the trunk. I want to extend my ChargePoint Cable up along the ceiling to where I want to mount it on a retractable hanger or drum. However I need to find about a 30ft length of the cable.

the cable is a 3 conductor for 50 amps and 2 signal wires, see the picture.

Anybody know if I can buy just the cable anywhere? (I tried Mouser.com)

Cheers,

ChargePoint uses a 50A plug doesn't it? If yes the better question around here is how do you go about moving the EV receptacle to the other side of the car and move the charger. That could be done with a surface mount box extension and some EMT formed to run along the ceiling.

Yes it uses a 50A plug but mine is hard wired in the best location for the charger. There is no other wall to mount the charger on that won't have cables that need to be stepped over. The best solution is to have the charger cable hanging from the ceiling I think.

In my mind it seems like the obvious choice like when you have to run compressor lines. You mount the compressor in the most appropriate location then run your lines where needed. You don't move the compressor.

I dont know of any source for the bulk wire, but I know that Southwire makes the specialty cord for several EVSE manufacturers. Maybe a call to them would help.

I understand what you're hoping to do now. I had a similar situation with my portable 2-post lift; Hydraulic lines on the floor while I'm trying to work. I extended the lines and suspended them from hooks in the ceiling over to the wall mounted hydraulic unit. If you don't find a suitable retractable setup consider using eyelets or hooks in the ceiling.

You can see my EV charging plug in this picture too. I ended up selling this house shortly after doing all the work but the new garage has 200A service :) What car did you end up getting?

We ordered a KIA EV6 in Yacht Blue at the end of last year. It was supposed to be here this month but it sounds like KIA are backed up and it's still a few months out. I test drove it back to back with the Model Y and there was no comparison, the EV6 was a much better ride. The Tesla has better tech and is much cheaper but sometimes you have to go with your gut on this stuff.
