I've had good results re-using the solution after filtering it before storage. It works a little slower, but stuff can be soaking while you're doing other things.
I've not been filtering it but I do try to pour off the liquid and leave the sediment undisturbed. I didn't label the jugs I poured it into so I have some with vinegar, some with evaporust, and some with the sodium citrate mix and I haven't puked the caps to smell to figure out which is which. The little tub that was growing stuff was left as it was after the last use. I don't know if that's relevant to it growing stuff or not. My benzo... Stuff should be at the house when I get back from my current trip to Rhode Island.

Evapo rust used to be sold everywhere. Just tried my local Ace, Blowes, and Home Despot with no luck. Grainger doesn't even have it, Mcmaster is a mystery as usual.

It's available other places online, but it's odd it's not at local stores anyomore. Big push by Rustoleum or other competitor? Direct to consumer?

First world problems to start of '26 lol.
my local napa has it ,just bought some three weeks ago

4 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket. Unfortunately the benzo... Stuff won't get here until after I leave on Monday but the 5# bag of citric acid arrived today. I'll dump this bucket and start fresh. I see the anti-algal used in other stuff like passivation mixes so I think it should be ok in this. Should be able to mix up almost 10 gallons for the price of one gallon of evaporust. Pretty amazing how fast flash rust starts to show up. Scrubbed all those pieces and then blew them dry. By the time I got to the last of them, they were rusting and it's only 65F in the shop right now.
