Does this stuff have a shelf life? I bought some a couple of years ago to clean up some rusty hardware, and it worked fine. Now 2 years later I tried it on some sheet metal dash reinforcements and it doesn't appear to do anything to the rust spots. The product has been sealed in its original container since the last time I used it.

I have some that is well over twenty years old. Still works great. Have you diluted it?
Update: The steel stamping has been sitting in the Evaporust for seven and a half hours now, and it finally came clean. Took it out, washed it in water and blew it dry with compressed air. I'll powder coat it tomorrow morning. It's something that no one will ever see, unless they take the dash apart, but I just hate rusty sheet metal.

The stuff is fairly temperature sensitive, 70° or higher it seems to work best. Cold solution and cold sheet metal can really drag out the time it takes for it to work properly.

Very true.
I had to add an aquarium heater when I was de-rusting suspension parts in the winter.

I have a 5 gallon pail that I have been using for years, still works great. As others have mentioned, temperature is potentially an issue. My shop is kept at 55-58 deg. in winter. I usually soak the parts for 24 hrs. minimum for best results.
