Can I interest you in a 8/8 wrench? Both ends of this 3/8 wrench are stamped 8/8. Mfd. 1963.

yup I have a couple of sockets that are not even marked or the marks are so light you can barely read the numbers....
maybe snap on will give you 1000 a month to display the tool

I had a craftsman box end wrench one time and the sizes were actually reversed so the sizes were wrong.... drive me nuts; they swapped it for me!

socketdeveler, I may have another possible answer for your wrenchs' markings.
My earlier days working with english motorcycle and cars made before the mass changeover to the american style of fasteners left me with some wrenches made to the British Standard and Whitworth pattern.I have some by Snap-On, Bonney, and Proto and my SO wrenches have BS after the number but the Proto only have W before the wrench manufacturers number and 3/8 designating the opening size.With both British Standard and Whitworth pattern the size of wrench opening marked on the wrench denotes the size of the fastener body that a nut or bolt head of this size/pattern would have.
I think I can see your stamping as 3/8 rather than 8/8.You should be able to disprove my explanation by measuring the opening of your wrench.
My wrenches measure;
3/8 BS = .600
3/8 W = .720
and if you think this practice was a *****, just live with the thread possibilities on the fasteners used and none of them were metric.Whitworth pattern threads were 55 degree with a rounded crest and root.
My 1962 Jag mark II 3.8 had all National Fine threaded fasteners except ignition and fuel system componants but Triumph motorcycles still had a mix of British and American fasteners in 1967.
Damn nice wrench thanks for the picture.

enginenut, It is a 3/8 wrench. No BS markings. I've examined the stamps under a magnifying glass. It's possible that the 8s that should be 3s are indeed poorly stamped 3s but as it is both ends are marked 8/8. The 8s are fully developed. The markings are very small and my camera's abilities are limited as is my time to compose better photos within such limitations otherwise I would provide clearer examples.
