ever considered a nitrogen tank instead of compressor?

I've toyed with the idea of buying 1 or 2 nitrogen tanks and using those instead of a compressor. They are silent, have no moisture or dirt, take no electricity and can supply quite a bit of air. They aren't expensive to refill. What are your thoughts on this idea?

I have a C02 10 pound tank I use for offroading purposes. Air up tires and run air tools for trail repairs.

I wouldn't want to use it in leu of am air compressor in my shop

Go with a big air tank (120gl) I power mine up probable every 2 months. Your travel time is worth something more sow if you have to leave work early to fill them. Electric isn't more then filling the bottles and just get a good air filter set-up will address the other problem. But I have a hunch if you go with big tank that won't be a problem either.

There's an additional safety issue. If you go with nitrogen, just make sure you can't fill any unventilated areas with gas if you have a leak (suffocation).

Not a bad idea to use nitrogen. Nice to have it available. The only down side is handling the bottles. We use nitrogen at work instead of compressors to pressurize waveguide.

When we framed a 10'x20' structure in the middle of absolutely freakin' nowhere, my dad ran the nail gun off of a couple of nitrogen tanks. Worked well, we had just enough left to top off the air in our tires when we were done.

I'm military and been forced to use nitrogen when stuck in places where life is cheap and electricity is non-existant. It works but jeeze it can make the tools frickin cold.

I know nothing about tank sizes, but filled it better not weight more than 100lbs (old man), less than 80 would be better. What size would this be ?

Can anyone give me a ball park on what the tank and regulator would cost ?

What would it cost to fill ? Which is better CO2 or nitrogen ?

It costs a little extra, but I always enjoy my work a lot more.

You can chew through a full size nitro bottle pretty quick running free wheeling air tools like grinders, air ratchets etc. Unless you have a supply of real cheap nitro things would get expensive real fast.

Co2 has more air per tank than nitrogen. I run both.. Air tools, tires, plasma.. They aren't a replacement for a compressor but they have their place
