Ever seen a C-clamp like this?

I remember years ago my grandmother had a knitting machine with some funky c-clamps for holding spools of yarn.

Almost looks like a rod or arm would come out of that hole.

I agree w PC. That is a holder, not a C clamp. Or a desk lamp, boat lamp, something like that.

Yeah, probably a holder for something. Here is a flipped picture to help think about that possibility.

Might've been for a tommy bar to snug it up once it's hand tightened. Same idea as a vice or c clamp with it's sliding handle. Wouldn't stick out at an odd angle in the way with it being removable too.

It’s a little different than the one I had as a kid, but it could be a clamp for vulcanized patching an inner tube.
Id post a picture but mine is long gone.

Hot patch vulcanizer. Clamp the cartridge to the tube and set fire to the backing.

I disagree with the vulcanizer. Not the typical base nor spread arms.
Been image searching via. several engines. Came up w/ a couple hits that are close but not exact. I think it clamps to a workbench and a rod or threaded rod inserts into the hole. For what purpose is the question.

Not a tire vulcanizer. I had an articulated lamp with a holder like this. The lamp had a stud that inserted into this holder.

I have a lamp with a similar holder, but I'm not going out in the rain this evening to go and get it.. I think this is a clamp on holder for something.
