I got lucky not long ago and bought this beauty.. Only the amperage gauge is not working. Should be an easy fix..

But look at it! It's so friggin cool. And weighs around 40kg or so.. It's insane how sturdy it is. Cant wait to open it up, repair and restore it.

Just thought i would share

It seems more people care about new taiwan chrome than vintage quality.. I feel ya..

This forum is full of cheap this, cheap that, snap on, snap on, snap on...

I have shared some very cool vintage equipment myself and have had mediocre responses at best compared to "sale on cheapest possible tools at random store that pay its workers minimum wage"..

Welcome to america, or is it just the 21st century? And people wonder why all our jobs are being outsourced..

Keep posting your finds. Around here too many people seemed obsessed with arguments for, against, vs. and about Snap On, Harbor Freight, SK, Taiwan tools, Chinese tools, and USA tools.

And when you take it apart take some some photos of the repair/restoration process and please post them.

Thanks again.

Seems cool to me hope you can perform a full restoration this thing you found. I like old stuff but only if it is useful/usable.

That is a cool looking charger. As for the lack of responses, sometimes it's all about timing (active users and all that), and other times people just seem to scan the threads looking for one with a lot of activity. I do that quite often.

Don't get discouraged, though. I've considered myself a thread-killer for years on a number of forums. I'll post a thread and have minimal response, or more often I'll post in an active thread only to become the last post in said thread.

Thats the garagejournal i know:) thanks guys.

I agree with you. Too much outsourcing. I scour the internet for vintage stuff as i like them better and the quality is often far better than anything new out there.

I'll make sure to post pics when i restore it. So far im busy with the house i just purchased. Although i dont really care about the house that much. Ot's the garage that has me excited. As you can see on the picture the floor is bare concrete. Cant wait to change that so i can move my garage stuff in.. Should be a month or so before i get that long.

I stay as far away from HF as i can. Im aware some of their products are good(enough).. But i hate china whole heartedly. As a dog lover i cant stand their barbaric ways of killing dog during the Yulin dog festival. Also the outsourcing has gone too far. Too much focus on quantity instead of quality. I guess it's just how capitalism works.

If anything, we should look at it from the bright side. While most go after cheap new tools, we can pick up the cool vintage stuff for cheap.
Got the charger for 50 bucks. And it works. You just cant see how much amperages it's charging at the moment.

Just a tip here autonaut. But perhaps more people would take the time to look and read the thread if the image displayed correctly in their browser without scrolling. There's just no need to have 3000+ pixel heights or widths in a forum post. :)

I picked up something similar to that one at a garage sale for near nothing and thought I would keep the newer style one I already had and gave it to my boy, turns out it is superior to the one I have. Just need to be sure not to leave it on the battery for extended times.

Feel free to share a picture:)

Here is something i picked up yesterday for cheap. What a beast. Weight 100lbs without the stand, which weigh almost the same it feels!

Most often i can only find 13mm drill presses. This one is 16mm..
Im getting closer to stocking up the things i need for the garage makeover.
