So last friday I was using my milwaukee 2754 to remove a bunch of 3/8 bolts from a chute cover. All of the sudden I had motor sound but no impact! I assumed the anvil broke off inside of the case. I've had the boot on this impact since new (late 2017). I've been meaning to take it to get warrantied and today i decided to take the boot off when I discovered this....

I'm certainly not mad about it though, I've definitely got my money's worth out of it. If it's covered under warranty that's a bonus.

Not sure how you get that new model convertable impact... but seems like it's acid etched the whole way :) atleast it doesn't looks like it's a mechanical damage.. more like some sort of aluminum etching soluition collected around the rim of the boot over time eating the aluminum away... (the pitting from outside in)

you cleaning that with some royal purple or some de-greaser ?

Seen that happen with tons of aluminum body air cars impacts, that’s why some of the heavy duty ones came with a steel nose housing

Ive never cleaned it with anything exotic, it's hard to say really with all the places I've been for all the time I've had it, but I'd say the harshest thing it's been cleaned with would be brakekleen.i carry a spray bottle of dawn and water that I usually clean my power tools with. It doesn't get them bright and shiny but it takes most of the grease off.

WD40 and a follow up with dawn/water if you dont like the slick. Its the only thing WD40 is good for imho. Brakekleen will fade the red and white the black on Milwaukees

It really looks like something spinning cut it from the inside out, like DFB said. Doesn’t look like a fracture .

Yeah, I agree maybe a bearing failed or something. Maybe a piece broke off inside and got lodged between the anvil and the case. Either way it got the job done

A little bondo and it will be good as new...:wtf::wtf::wtf::rolleyes::rolleyes::eek:

Duct tape...some paint...”like new” on Craigslist...

OP...did the nose move out...or...was that casing “missing” that much material? I am curious how that much material wandering around the inside of that tool would not have either seized it sooner...or been disruptive enough for you to notice something going bad...

The case is moved out for dramatic effect. It has had a CPIW tool boot on it literally its' entire life. I wear ear plugs pretty close to 100% of the time, and I'd bet the boot probably muffles the noise a little bit. I didnt notice anything before it happened, It worked, then it didn't. I'd guess it probably happened all at once.
