I'm retired. Unless I'm going somewhere, my pockets are pretty much empty. I carried that **** my entire working career, destroying countless pairs of jeans. Today, if I don't need it almost immediately, I don't carry it.

When i go anywhere.......let your imagination take over.

In before the $300 Ti pocket Prybars and last ditch G10 shivs. Been there, done that.

Most days though? Prometheus Beta Megnetic on my keys and Scagel pattern slipjoint in my front pocket. It's fine.

Here's the thing.... I like winter because I can load out my coat and be well equipped for most basic needs without going to my box. I go places and everyone knows I have whatever it is they're in need of. A co worker said I'm like go go gadget and everyone laughed, because I always have whatever it is, and I was rocking a gadget style hat.
absolute must haves, knife, pliers, flashlight, screwdriver with bits. But, go in my winter pockets and bag and the gadget reference makes sense. From tools to electronics, I can get into or out of anything.

I’ve been working on a small edc tool kit for a while. Not a bug out bag or car tools just my favorite small tools that I need most often.
One thing that’s interesting to me is that I find myself wanting a lot of the slightly larger tools over multi tools or dinky pocket size tools. Putting a lateral force on my leatherman and watching the jaws flex aggravates me, twist the Klein’s until the cows come home and I wonder why I have the Surge to begin with.

Just my wallet, my iphone 12 mini, and my Skeletool.

unnamed.jpg

Made the wallet myself 3 years ago. A little crooked cuts and the stitches aren't lining up perfectly and the thread is quite thin. Leather is only 1.3mm thick and was made from scraps, so it has some flaws. It's more the kind of leather you'd use to make pants or gloves, not very firm.

Just gives a perspective on how horribly cheap the regular wallet you buy is. Despite all the flaws and being worn every day for 3 years, mine looks exactly the same as when I made it.

Vosteed Corgi today. I like carrying different knives though, so it will likely be something else tomorrow.

P.s. I think my pants would fall off if I carried as much gear as you OP.

Summer time when I’m in shorts.
IMG_4766.jpeg

Long pants weather when I’m in the office. (Lower capacity defense tool because I’m not the only one carrying defensive tools)(sorry for the toes)
IMG_4767.jpeg

When I’m on my oil tanker.
IMG_4768.jpeg

Common is my Big Skinny wallet containing my CDL drivers license, CDL med card, ALL of my carry permits, a couple bank/credit cards.

One of 3 different personal protection tools and one of 2 different US made extremely sharp Schrade knives.

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed to use the gun?
Being from central Europe/Slovenia I'm a bit oblivious to such stuff. My country is probably one of the safest in Europe and in the world. But my girlfriend comes from South Africa which is kind of on the other end of the spectrum and that opened my eyes a bit. I never locked my car - why would I? I usually leave the keys in the ignition of my unlocked car at home. My front door is not only unlocked but typically wide open when I'm at home. But she's scared of so average things I never even thought about, like being outside after dark or running out of petrol or a breakdown is a minor inconvenience to me but practically a **** and death sentence in her country. She said you don't even think to stop to replace a flat tyre where she lived.

Short answer (and I hesitate to divulge anything) = No, I've never had to fire it, but Yes I've needed to "use" it.

I have had to draw it once, and had my hand on it in the holster another time. In both instances the sight of it was enough to stop the threat. (proper legal procedures followed its "use")

Thankfully, I've never had to put my finger on the trigger in a defensive situation, and I hope I never do.

MKM Malga today. Basically a swiss army knife clone, but slightly longer, removable micarta scales, tunable pivot screws and with a powder metallurgy M390 blade. I also use a titanium suspension clip so it doesn't fall to the bottom of my pants pocket.

I often carry a full size Kobalt utility knife in my pocket. I know it's way overkill but it's easy to find when I lay it down.

Since I bought this a few months ago, I've carried it almost daily. Haven't bought another knife recently either - can't seem to find one that would do EDC better for me (but I'm always on the lookout 😄).

SOG Altair XR in 154cm blade steel, thin, full-flat grind. I like the extra deep-carry clip, the light weight, the crossbar lock...

What holster do you pair with your weapon of choice?

In the pockets: Money, comb, knife, pen, lighter (I don't smoke), "keychain" with seatbelt cutter/window breaker, whistle, mini flashlight (red), and pill container (migraine arrestor, muscle relaxant, and 2, Tylenol 3s).

IMG_1228.jpeg

Depending on how I am dressed:

Sig P220 Legion SAO (.45 ACP/.45 SMC) with spare magazine.
IMG_1226.jpeg

Smith & Wesson Equalizer (.9mm) with spare magazine.

IMG_1227.jpeg

I have a 1940s/1950s French army musette bag I keep with me (on me or in the car depending on where I am) with a fire extinguisher, rescue knife, bag of meds, the rest of my CCs and other cards, penlight, pen, flashlight, Tide stick...

IMG_1230.jpeg

an Israeli tourniquet, some bandages, additional meds, extra contacts, extra glasses, notebook, small Bible,

IMG_1231.jpeg

Nothing here is very heavy, so it's not difficult to carry as an over the shoulder bag. The flashlight and rescue knife (and automatic center punch which I forgot to put into the pic) came in handy when I came upon an overturned car. I was able to break out a side window, cut the side airbag away, and ensure the driver was breathing well, and not being strangled by his seatbelt.

How does this work when you are driving? I’m thinking to get a similar set up to try

No issues whatsoever. Drawing would be a bit difficult, but it's still doable. The only time I thought a problem was in the making, I pulled the pistol and set it on my lap (interestingly, although the person couldn't see the pistol, they did take note of the movement and their road rage immediately ceased).

I caught the EDC bug watching Vice Grip Garage on youtube, Derek Biere constantly uses his leatherman :). So I did not want a heavy multitool and ended up picking the SOG powermite. I got a leather pouch on the jungle site, so this is the assembly

leather holder with 2 round pockets and a card pocket
Sog powermite multitool
Olight O-clip flashlight
Yeemo Mini pen
credit card magnifyer, this has an inch and metric ruler along its edge
modified keychain pillholder, (machined off lanyard bung)
4 1/4 hex drivers, 2 phillips and 2 straight (these fit in the end of the powermite very nicely

well, keeping with my OCD and "anything worth doing is worth overdoing" philosophy, I have expanded to an Altoids tin EDC carrier. this allowed some expansion of contents.

so now it includes
generic tin case
Sog powermite multitool
Olight O-clip flashlight
Yeemo Mini pen
credit card magnifyer, this has an inch and metric ruler along its edge
modified keychain pillholder with a days worth of prescription and some pain reliver
7 1/4 hex drivers, 3 phillips and 2 straight and 2 common torx (these are in a drinking straw wrapped in e-tape for stability)
fingernail clippers
whistle
tweezers
3 small zip ties

believe it or not I still have more room and I am trying to figure out the best thing to fill the final space.
