Guys, i decided to try "mechanic in a bottle" that I asked about in an earlier post. I used it on my echo 2 cycle edger. Its 15 years old and has always been reliable. However, this year it would not idle. Once you let off the throttle it would go dead. I figured it was fuel related and tried adding seafoam to the fuel but had no luck. I bought mechanic in a bottle at Home depot. I followed the instructions for "non starting engines" on the back. I dumped out the gas in the edger, started it, and ran it dry. I then cut the switch off, poured in two ounces of MIB, primed and pulled the cord a few times. I then let it sit overnight. The next day, I poured the excess MIB out of the tank. The edger was a little hard to get started, but once it started running it would idle again. So, my first experience with this product is favorable. It might be worth a try on some poorly running lawn equipment if you don't want to pull the carb.

All the carbs I bought direct from BS were like $25-35 I think. All worked fine out of the box, and fixed a few things I hadn't used in years.. I bought 1 off brand carb for my etq generator for like $30. Still haven't installed it, but it's identical to the original. I gave up on rebuild kits. It's not worth the time and aggravation. They never seem to run right after all the work you put into them, and frankly it's just easier to spend another $10 and know it'll work.

I know that feeling so well. I work 3-4 days a week, am here a lot, still always things broken. Yesterday finished the new tires and aligning my daily driver, haven't driven it for 2 months because of that, been driving the spare. Put my brush mower back together with the new belt, put the new ignition in my tractor, today finished the motorcycle my Brother traded me for a riding mower, mice got in the air box had babies, used the air filter, it was a mess. 4x4 has a flat, noticed one of the huge rear tires on the tractor is low now. Primer bulb is broke now on my leaf blower. This is the result of owning too much stuff, it never ends when you do.
