Evolution Rage Blade in a standard miter saw

They tout these blades as being able to cut just about anything. I have a 10" compound slider that is soon to be replaced with a nicer one so I'm not overly concerned with possible damage to the saw. I thought I might give one of these a try for cutting steel and aluminum stock.

Any thoughts or warnings?

I would check your saws rpms before attempting.

Dry cut saws are pretty scary, and thats with everything built specifically for it.

Yeah, I just noticed that it's only rated for about half of what a typical miter saw is running.

Why do you say they scary? We had at my last job. I didn't find it any more intimidating than any other saw.

I tried a similar Lennox blade in a miter saw and got maybe 3 cuts before blade was toast.

Well with 14" of blade (my Makita) and 1850 rpms, if your piece isnt secured properly things go south real quick.

So I had the idea of putting one of those router speed controls on the saw to slow it down. Any thoughts?

I would go with one of the freud non ferrous blades if you really wanted to try it. They are designed to "convert" a standard miter saw. Just be very careful on a slider if it grabs the piece.

Well, the Evolution compound miter is only around $200. I'd probably be better suited to sell my current miter and just get it.
