Excel TBR4013 Vs. HF 44 tool chest = The same?

Hey guys,

So long story short, I'm in Canada and want a new toolbox. I really want a HF but getting one here is next to impossible and I'd have to drive 4 hours to the closest HF.

There is a local store that sells an Excel TBR4013 tool chest for pretty cheap. From the pictures it looks like a copy of the mighty HF44. It seems to have the same slides, but different casters and push handle

Is it a rebadged/copy ?

Anything is possible when it comes to Chinese produced things.... it's possible they're made in the same factory as the HF box. Or, it could be a Chinese copy, of a Chinese box made in a different factory across town. Lol.

It's his cousin, who got in a quarrel w/ the father. And even though the father doesn't run the company anymore (the son does), he was offended enough that he ripped off the box and started selling to undercut his family.

Tough times in tool box manufacturing.

Finding those threads by search is a challenge, understandably.

I think the Excel is made by SPG International, it's a decent light duty box

the excel looks like its got the old style drawer pulls on them from when the hf came in the wrinkled finish. could be they took over the old style and painted them different for their brand.

There are various HF items that you can find sold under other brands.
