excellent condition ?

Maybe it's just me but when I buy a flex ratchet that's advertised "excellent-condition" I at least expect the head to be snug on it. When I questioned the person that sold it to me they said "get it warrantied".
It doesn't add up to me. This could be the first person to get a neg review from me.

Excellent condition is a term of subjective opinion, to some extent, but I would not expect it to have any defects. Beyond that I like to see the original listing before I hang anybody.

Just get it warrantied, jeez I'd rather have a loose one so I can get a newun off the truck.

I bought one off the bay and the chrome had peeled in a small spot on the top of the head. I could have just complained but I turned it in for a brand new one. I mean my $80 on a used one got me a $200+ ratchet off the truck new. I'm not complaining.

Same situation happened to me recently. The "excellent condition" ratchet had major scratches, chrome loss, engravings, dirt and gouges. Seller offered a $6 refund, $5 thru paypal and $1 in the mail. Still thinkin about leavin a neg

That really is very sh***y of that seller to do that. I've had it happen to me, I'm very picky when I buy something off of ebay, and study the pictures hard to make sure I'm getting what I think I'm getting. Compare that to exactly what they say and decide to buy or not.

If I go through all that and it shows up a POS. I'm going to be pissed! If it were me I would probably tell them in no uncertain terms how you felt and that they are lucky you are not leaving them bad feedback.

If they come back negative again toward you, stick it to them hard!
Bad feedback after you have given them a couple of chances to do the right thing. Seller should At least say sorry for the bad Communication on the deal.

If they are a ****, than what the hell, be a **** too.

If you get stuck with it, tighten it up. Knock the pin out and separate the two parts. There is a split ring in there, it looks like a lock washer. Spread it out a little and put it back between the head and the handle and then hammer the pin back in place. Problem solved. That way you can have the satisfaction of leaving the ******* negative feedback and enjoy a nice tight ratchet at the same time!

After waiting over a week for them to ship... i finally receive THIS:

Is it me or did is that not as described/pictured? Certainly looks heavily used to me. Not sure what I should do. I know its just a breaker bar after all...just wanted to make sure i'm not over reacting...

I'm with you, NOT AS DESCRIBED. Unfortunately you bought it from a seller who picked it up in an auction. He may not own tools or never have owned a quality tool in his life. If he treats his own tools poorly that breaker could be a real diamond. I suppose the question is, 'How much does it matter to you?' Would you have bought it at that price if you had known?

Crappy picture, can't tell anything on the breaker bar. I would be looking at the drive end, pivot point etc closely to determine use. \Macros?

"Excellent condition" certainly is subjective because what you guys are describing, I would refer to as "as new", or "unused".

To the OP: I don't think the seller was out of line in the original ad, more so in his "customer service". IMHO negative feedback, if any at all, should indicate that. I would personally just tighten it up (you know, use some tools...) or trade it in and move on.

I've the following:
-Snap On orange handled short gasket scraper #CSA8C (7.25" long) VGC
-Snap On 3/8" impact universal joint w/ retention pin # IPF80 (NOT FRICTION BALL)
-SK 1/4" drive fine tooth flex head ratchet #40972 (6.25" long)

All three are in excellent condition! Ratchet is smooth, scraper edge is near mint and the swivel joint in the universal is also good. I'd like to get $48 SHIPPED for the three. I haven't thought about individual tool prices yet, but if they sit for a little while, I'll definitely piece them out.
I'd prefer Paypal also.


I didn't state they were "new". all three are in excellent working condition. If a flex head doesn't "flex", then THAT would be an issue. All of those SK flex style pin joints are floppy. The ONLY time I've ever seen one that had any sort of friction/resistance in the joint, was when it was new, never used...and that still only lasted a week or so due to its' design.
When i packaged them, they were fine. I had to STUFF the whole blob into that box, then it has bulged, causing me to need to tape the outer tabs that fold into the box itself.
If you're unhappy with it, get it warrantied.
I also didn't state that the chrome was pristine either. You can clearly tell by the photo I had, that it definitely had good wear to it.

Notice that the first sentence states excellent condition & the last sentence states that it definitely had good wear to it.
I asked the seller for a $10 deposit back into my PP acct to solve this whole thing & got no response.I would say buyer beware because one person's definition of excellent may not be the same as the next guy.
