I would like to be able to work on my garage in winter time. What would be an inexpensive yet effective way to get one of these things going?

Don't waste your time on drier hose or any other kind of cheap hose. Most industrial hose companies will carry high temperature crush free exhaust hose designed for venting exhaust fumes.

I found my used exhaust hose online from a shop closure sale but honestly purchasing new is a whole lot cheaper than CO2 poisoning or worse.

FYI I still run multiple fans both blowing outside air in and exhaust fans while idling my racecars in my shop.

I'm hoping for something with some sort of in-hose fan I can draw the fumes out, I don't need that headache (pun intended). Most of the motors I'm working on are sub 1600cc aircooled engines so not a lot of fumes to draw out. One SMF 302 but I don't spend a lot of time working on any of them.

true story, this past weekend I just set my hand on fire. The glorified snow plow (an old 4-wheeler) had not been run in quite some time and didn't want to start. I was doing a combination of starter fluid and using my hand to cover the air intake (the ultimate manual choke) when I finally got it going. About 5 seconds in it the darn thing decided to belch some flames and set my starter-fluid-soaked-hand and filter chamber on fire... Not much of a fire but still enough to qualify for flaming idiot award. Anyways... yeah, I am painfully aware of the need for a proper fireproof hose

I see a reverse ****** on your pic. What do you have there?

For simplicity then I would run a squirrel cage fan underneath your garage door and **** out the fumes with an open window creating cross flow. (**** out air not push it in as it's far more effective that way)

It's a Van Diemen RF84 Formula Ford I autox and road race

They run an upside down Hewland MK9 4 speed transmission which I believe was VW based.
