Last week on my weekly Snap on fix I saw they had a few more green tools that I needed to obtain.

AAARGH!! Don't show me that! I wanted the green PDR5000A but my dealer said it was on backorder. I got tired of waiting and got the red. I guess the red handle looks a little odd but I think I could have lived with it.

WOW, those look nice; how are those new air drills? They look like they are rebadged Sioux drills... what do you think? I still love my old PDR3A/5A but I do know the newer designs seem to have more ***** then the older ones.

Since Snap On owns Soiux the relationship is there for them to use Soiux's design. Soiux is top shelf stuff in my book, I remember using a Soiuz aid drill back in the mid 70's and was mighty impressed but then again I was only 13 years old helping a family friend at his shop working on a few stock cars.

Yeah, I realize the Sioux relationship; so what do you think of the drills? How is the performance; are they better then the old PDR3a/5a? Any info and feedback appreciated! :)

I've only used the 3/8" thus far for any real drilling and it is equal to my old IR or CP drills, which both were the best those manufactures offered in the mid 80's. The 1/2" I've only used to drill some 3/4" holes in some hardwood 4x4's to test it using a Silver & Demming reduced shank bit. That proved that I had to use a 1/2" air line and when I did the drill didn't even sneeze drilling those holes. The thing I don't like is in my catalog the 1/2" had a Jacob's 33BA chuck similar to the chuck on the 3/8" drill but in 2012 Snap On changed to the cheaper stamped steel chuck which they may have done to allow you to mount and dismount the side handle.

Apologies for dragging this old thread back.

Anyone know if you can buy a green boot for the PH3050 ? I see you can buy a red one.
