Hello Everyone:

I am new to this forum, just registered today. However, I viewed the site as a vistor for about 1 month now. People have some really cool garages. I am a die hard car fan, and sometimes spend too much time in the garage.

My name is Justin I am 25yrs old, and I live in Northern VA, and land is not cheap here. We had our house built about 1.2 years ago, however, in our area land is not abundant, and comes at a very high price and further away from civilization.

We found the house we fell in love with after looking at 60 - 70+ models and had it built in our community on a .26 acres.

This is our first home and very happy with it. However, I would very much like to expand my garage over a little. Not tear down the whole wall, however open it to a work area with more space to stand and work and have more cabinet space. This will also expand the laundry room behind the garage.

I know it will not be easy, and I am planning on doing a lot of the work myself, however I am prepared to get professional help on supporting the load above the garage.

My plan is below.

In the picture below, the wall is moved about 6-8 ft. over, and french doors are installed and all other details are specified within the picture.
