Expansion Joint

Good morning from a new member!

I am, at last, beginning the lifelong dream of restoring a car. I am planning on putting the vehicle onto wheel dollies in order to allow me to maneuver the car a bit in the garage. However, I am concerned that the casters of the dollies, themselves, may get stuck in the center expansion joint of my 2 car garage. Is it possible to fill this with a material that would allow me to roll the car over it, while retaining its ability to do its job as an expansion joint?

Not sure what you have but it sounds pretty large. There is really no need for an expansion joint in an interior garage floor. Concrete shrinks quite a bit when it sets. After that there is a little thermal expansion and contraction but it doesn't amount to much. I'd grout it solid.

Can fill with our product. This is what you would need to keep the joint from flexing to the point that your coating cracks.

Maybe but I've never seen a caster get stuck in an 1/8" wide control joint. Maybe he'll post a pic so we know.

Maybe the jerks who poured his floor were like the ones that did mine. My garage floor is part of the house slab and is post tensioned. But they troweled in rounded V "joints" in a 9' by 11' rectangles. The only small crack I had before putting epoxy on the two 4' wide steps on 2 sides of the garage, occurred where the steps met at a right angle. I filled it with some thin set I had on hand. It doesn't show up thru the red epoxy.

Yup easy peasy. Very hard rubber feel to it.
However when I looked into wheel dollies it seemed reviews were mixed. Even for high dollar ones people found hard to push a car around. I was scared away from buying. If I need them I will make my own
