Greetings,
I have to do some tree trimming and I was looking at getting the DeWalt pole saw. Main reason for this is that I already run DeWalt, so I have several batteries and didn't want to start a new platform.

Have you had any experience using this product? Thoughts? Good or bad?
Thanks Griff

I bought one for the same reasons you are considering one. I have a lot of overgrown trails that need cleared. The Dewalt has cut through everything I tried with it. Most of the stiuff has been 4"-6" down to scrub brush. I can reach in a clump of honeysuckle and have my way with it. The battery lasts a very long time, I was pleasantly surprised. It comes with an extension for the pole, but I use it without the extension. My son borrowed it and did use the extension without issues. It is a little heavy fully extended so you need to use it in more of a vertical position.

This is not a replacement for a regular chain saw but I am glad I got mine and use it a lot.

I bought one about a year ago and have been l happy with it. Have other Dewalt 20V tools and needed to cut down two Bradford Pear trees. Wanted to trim the upper branches before taking down the rest of the tree to make it more manageable. Worked great for that. Since then, I have used it to remove some low hanging branches (6-7" diameter) on oaks. Worked well there also. Works great and has exceeded my expectations so far.

I have one and have used it a fair amount. I think it works great. It's a little heavy on the saw end, but the weight seems to help it cut better.

I had a straight pole saw and the angled blade on the Dewalt is much easier to use for me. With the straight blade, I had to push into the saw. With the angle blade, it seems to dig into the branches better on its own, making the cutting easier on my weak *** arms and back.

It sounds like you're already going to take the plunge but count me among those who have had a good experience with the saw. I have a giant Brazilian pepper tree that overhangs two different neighbors' yards and I use it to keep the tree cut back all from my side of the fence.

I also find that for stuff that isn't so far out of reach, I can just not add the center section of the pole an it's a lot more manageable.

There a couple times where it has leaked oil all over and I swear I had the cap on the reservoir tight but I'm not 100% certain it wasn't user error so I'll stop short of saying it's a flaw.

Like the poster above, I like the slight angle of the bar relative to the pole.

I bought mine to deal with a 30' tall 30' wide magnolia that was growing into the wires. It's bad *** but hard to under cut large limbs. You have to cut down using the bottom of the bar (as is normal). A chain saw will under cut from the bottom (using the top of the bar) but these trim saws grab and stall.

The solution was to just cut the limb 10 or 12 inches further up so if it tore off a strip of bark when the branch came off it didn't matter because you'd make a second cut the 10 -12 inches down from the 1st cut. This way there was no weight on the little piece and it didn't tear the strip of bark off leaving a nice clean end.

It was money well spent as I'd likely still be in hospital from falling out of the tree trying to reach everything with my chainsaw.

I bought one for trimming around my Moms property and it works very well. Chainsaw for the big stuff but for just knocking down some branches and not have to climb a ladder its the cats meow.

Got one of these as well. Works fine, does the job. Biggest complaint is paying attention to make sure the extension collars are snugged down. This pole saw is a compliment to the Milwalkee hatchet and a full size chainsaw.
