I myself do own a lot of their ratcheting wrenches. Great stuff, love them, although I wish they had the longer ones for more torque. I also find their sockets and ratchets to be pretty good on general service work.

Any one with any successes or failures?

I've got 3/8 and 1/2 ratchet and socket sets from the mid 90s, back when they were made by Stanley. I find them to be well made and strong. The only thing I've broken was a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter. When I tried to warranty it at the store they told me they couldn't do it and I would have to mail it in. After some words I got the part warrantied and that was about the last time I walked into a Home Depot.

OleSlew...Made in the USA! Say's it all right there!

Pontiac, I've heard good things about their 90's products but horrible warranty services. Although there new stuff isn't like the 90's I think there customer service exchange got better...like sears, break it and walk in and replace it. I THINK. I could be wrong?

I had one of the '90's Stanley made 1/2-inch torque wrenches which I loved. Unfortunately it broke last year. I took it back to Home Depot and they exchanged it for a new model without any hassle. The only thing is that the new wrench feels like garbage. It is more like a slightly upgraded Harbor Freight model. Also the range is more limited (50+ foot lbs vs the old starting at 20+ foot lbs).

The whole Husky program started out great at Home Depot in the mid '90's or so. They had visions of becoming the next Craftsman. They partnered with quality manufacturers to produce the tools. Like Sears, they had an expansive set of tools and you could even buy individual tools (sockets and the like). Unfortunately, after the GE minions took over the cut the product line and, from what I can tell, the brand and product sourcing. In modern day Home Depot fashion, you're left with a limited assortment of products.

I got a lot of husky sockets as I am I socket boarder and hoard and buy every USA socket I find almost lol.. Anyways I love them, I got a mix of older ones starting with the ones with knurling at the bottom which I have broke one but it's so old I wouldn't want to exchange it and newer ones not sure about age but I'd say 90's and never had an issue but I got so many sockets I tend to not get to use a single socket or brand much... I wonder who made the old stuff before 90's.. I also got the black chrome husky pro sockets and those are among my favorite husky has.. They have a nice fit and have not broke or stripped one so kudos on them... As for the ratchets I'm not a big fan same for wrenches not that there's anything wrong with them but I don't even like any Stanley ratchets either they just all feel cheap and lag so I stick to my others.

OLD Husky was manufactured by New Britain. Great stuff.

No idea when the corporate acquisition game started with them.... the product isn't the same now as earlier stuff.

This is also my view of Husky. I have a few sockets made by Husky I picked up used at a flea market and they are great. I won't touch the stuff at the orange big box store.

If you have a Menards store in your area check out their tools. Keep in mind they have at least two different lines. They cheap ones come from China. The better ones are mostly made in the US and are at least as good as the old Craftsman.
