I'm thinking of using one of these... Does anyone have any comments or recommendations?

Put a similar liftmaster one in a few months ago n and last year (I can't remember the models but they were similar). Install was easy, hardware is what it is. Make sure your pad is adequate and have power stubbed up for a cleaner install. What type of driveway? We cut in loops to exit usually but I prefer direct burial as the end result is nicer.

Haven't been back to either. Both had battery back up which is nice. One place is a junk yard and the other a small storage place.

The SL3000 is a "commercial" AC unit without any battery backup. I don't need or want the battery backup. No loops, as it is a small driveway and I'd be parking on top of them.
I'm hoping this thing is worth the almost $2k they want for it...

I got the residential/light commercial model. The RSL12V maybe? Can't remember for sure.
I really like it. It's fast and extremely quiet. Was very easy to set up too.
I have a 30ft 600lb gate. Moves it with ease.

I have the Elite version (don't remember the model number). I have not had any issues with it other than when the power is out, not having a backup power source. Typically in Dallas, that is only when it has iced over and the roads are closed anyway.

Very happy with it for residential use. Do not ever park on the track....I made the mistake of parking in the path of the gate when my remote would not open the garage door....got out, and went to open from the inside and accidentally hit the gate close button....nice little dent in my fender. Dumb move on my part.

I have an eagle 1000 I installed 15 yrs ago for a 18ft gate that is easily 500lbs and it's never skipped a beat. I know I paid like 700 for it way back then. Damn operators aren't cheap, but 2K and no battery back up, I think you might find a better deal.

I'm not interested in battery / DC operated unit, just seems like another battery to deal with and living in San Diego storms / power outages are a rare thing. I can always open the gate manually and just leave it open, its not a big deal.
Interesting to hear the loop is moment activated! But that still doesn't work for me, I'll be putting vehicles in the small driveway and I don't want the gate moving just because I shuffle a car out of the garage.

They have different models under the sl3000 number. At the very leat, add the photo eye when you order. It mounts to the housing and the reflector mounts across the opening, saves from fender dents haha.
