A friend of mine has a number of Weber 3 bbl carbs that have broken brass jets and steel mixture screws stuck in the aluminum body.
Over the years I have removed a few of the broken parts for him with the usual methods.

Please tell me your experience using Nitric acid to remove steel and brass screws from aluminum bodies. I am aware of the safety and toxicity issues with Nitric acid. What I want to hear is how successful have folks been with this technique? Any damage to the aluminum? How long does it take?

I have used alum on a broken tap in an aluminum part. It works, but takes a long, LONG, time (days on 1/4" tap).
