So wrights warranty policy is lifetime warranty
And any defect in material or craftsmanship will be replaced”
I’ve read a thread where a guy was goin to warranty a breaker bar and from the sound of it multiple comments were agreeing that you can replace things if YOU break it, not because of a fault in the manufacturing,
is this true? Was it much trouble for anyone trying to warranty something? If replacing a broken item isn’t the case are the wrenches good enough I shouldn’t worry about a warranty?

Also my buddy is wanting to be a mechanic, any advice, recommendations on cool or good tools?
What car company to work for?

Thanks you gentlemen I’m going to buy some wright wrenches on the spot!

Only time I needed to warranty a Wright wrench was one that spread the jaws while trying to adjust a stuck slack adjuster. 8mm I think. I called them to order a new one they asked what happened and said don't worry we'll send you a new one for free. No problems and they even covered the postage. Basically the Snap-on experience without the truck.

I have only 1 Wright tool - their large metric combo. The finish was -meh-. Not that I noticed but in the same garage, same cabinets, etc - all of them developed minor surface rust on all of them. Can't say if I saw spots of bare steel but for no other wrenches in the same box develops surface rust

Unless you're buying Snap On, and paying the markup that builds in normal wear replacement, the standard tool warranty is defects in material and workmanship. Normal wear and tear isn't a warranty case for most tool manufacturers. Putting a 3' pipe on a breaker bar and bending it isn't warranty, wearing out a socket after 10 years of daily use .... All tools will wear out with enough use and can be broken with enough abuse; this is just a fact.

Too many people here will use a pair of Channellocks for 20 years and expect a free replacement when the teeth wear out. This is like going back to your Toyota dealer and asking for a free new engine for your 300k mile Camry. But somehow, people feel that tools are supposed to be replaced for free forever.

Everything I've gotten from Wright works well.

I did break a pawl in a ratchet and they sent me a repair kit for free.

I would agree with the above - if you want tools to work with they are great. If you want tools to look shiny in a drawer buy something else.

I have a set of Wright wrenches. They’re ok, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get another set.

One way to look at warranty is, how many tools do you expect to break over a lifetime?

I have broken far less than 1% of my tools since I got my first set of ratchets and combination wrenches almost sixty years ago. I have lost far more than I ever broke in that time.

Warranty is useless to me.

^ to give you an idea of how Wright handles "warranty":

I bought a used Wright 3/4 drive socket set. The ratchet had pipe marks on the handle. The ratchet worked OKAY, but from the marks on the handle it was evident it had been pushed perhaps a bit farther than it should have been.
I called the factory and told them what I had and asked them how much would it cost for a repair kit.
"Can you give me your address, Mr. Kirk, and I'll get one sent out to you," she said.
I gave her my shipping address and asked again how much it was going to cost.
"Oh, I can't charge you for the repair kit. We can't sell them."

So in addition to sending me a free repair kit for a model 6400 3/4 drive ratchet, they also paid the freight on it, knowing that I had bought the set second-hand as well as having been told that a cheater pipe had been used on the ratchet.

Good enough?

.... and as finn mentions just above: how many tools are you planning on breaking?

That’s actually a plus for me, I like a little rust on some of my tools, I have old wrenches with some beautiful petina that came out after I removed the rust

Piling on a bit..but i had wright little 3/8 in 1/4 body ratchet break something trying to get a starter out. Similar to four.cycle (although i was the orig purchaser) - they mailed a repair kit out, no cost.

I had explained i knew i was putting more tq into the ratchet than i should, but terrible access demands compromises...i fully expected to and would have happily paid for the kit..but no muss, no fuss..

So..yeah, now I've got a fair few wright tools. Their combo wrenches are my primaries, their 3/8 deep impact sockets are excellent (short broached).

One call to the customer service line on Barberton,Ohio and your warranty item will be dealt with easily, quickly and fairly. I bent/broke a 1/2" wrench, called CS and they after a brief(explained) hold had a replacement ready at a local business I could walk in and get a replacement or they would mail me one. The on hold was to call the local tool store to verify the wrench was in stock, and for the clerk to pull it for me to pick up. It wasn't my usual route home from work, but wasn't out of my way and I had my new wrench that day.

I think they beefed up that little ratchet after the initial run came out.
