Need some help here, have been trying to rebuild a Sears 2 ton Hydralic Jack Model #328 12160. I removed the power unit and replaced the hydraulic ram cup bushing. After putting it back together and going thru the bleeding procedure, the jack which would pump up and then bleed down, now won't even pump up at all. Was about to give up on it, when I noticed that the can that I drained the hydraulic fluid into had a small metal item in the bottom. I believe this goes in the power unit, but I can't figure out where it goes.

Can someone tell me where this item goes in the power unit or tell me where I can find an exploded view of this Sears Model power unit to determine where this item belongs.

According to the parts list for my JCPenney 1.5 Ton, it appears to be the safety valve. See HiBall's jack repair posts. There's one on a 'sticky' on the forum page 1.

Correct, It does appear to be the Overload Valve.

OP, Far Right valve when standing behind the jack is a Valve cover, Elevate the rear of the jack, Remove everything inside and start with that piece, which should be at the bottom Pointy side down, then a spring that straddles the ***, Next will be a adjusting cap for setting the Overload via compressing that spring and setting the seat pressure, Which should be roughly 1 - 1 1/2 turns out from completely compressed.

Here is a link to the Manual from Marc's site, Unfortunately it doesn't include a exploded view cutaway.
