Extended height Jackstands?

What are you all using for "tall" jackstands?

I have a couple of sets of standard stands, but they only reach up to between 16 and 20 inches. I'd like to set the frame of my Jeep up 30+ inches to work on it. I've seen folks use stacked (and screwed) 2x4's under their jackstands, so I suppose that is an option.

Are there any good, inexpensive stands with that kind of height?

Concrete blocks are right out, by the way. I've done it in a pinch (2 blocks side by side, a sheet of 3/4" ply, and then my stand), but not something I want to rely on every day.

Check out welding stands. A screw type that will raise up to what you want. They look stout to me, but I don't know what they are rated at. I know one thing, a secondary support system is absolutely necessary even if it's a couple stacks of wheels.

BTW, the screw type jack does allow to even out the support pressure. I hate it when one is light and can be kicked out by accident way to easily.

I have a set of the 12-ton Harbor Freight stands, they go up to just over 30". I have used them under my Suburban a few times and they are plenty stout. I think they cost about $100 without a coupon.
