Does anyone make an extension cord for a DeWalt battery?

So the battery can be hung on your belt and the tool run?

I've run into a few instances where the battery was still in the way to use the tool.

I'm also having difficulties with battery weight.

You might be surprised by the unimagined difficulties you encounter as you get older

I've never seen this actual setup, but the pieces and parts are available to make it. Most would be direct from China, might find them on eBaY, and you could certainly 3d print them if that is in your skill set.

A couple of issues I see, voltage drop if you don't use wire that is heavy enough for the distance(6'-10'?), and making the connections resilient enough to withstand the potential tug on the wire at the adapters.

Found the battery cap right off on ebay.

I don't know if there is a ready-made extension cord like you described. You can probably cobble on together using 3d printed parts on Ebay. Not for DeWalt, but you can get battery holders (for the remote part of your extension) and battery blanks (for the tool connection of the extension) compatible with Milwaukee M12 batteries and tools. I discovered them while researching a way to power a Milwaukee M12 inflator from a cigarette light socket in a vehicle.

Which tools are fighting against you the most?

Maybe you could find a compact version.

If I use a Sawzall for a couple hours, I feel it.

When I was still working I used a couple of Dewalt 6" grinders with 9 ah batteries. Some days I would be working off a ladder and cycle through 4 batteries. They got a little heavy at the end of the day. I was thinking about cutting apart an old tool for the battery holder and a dead battery with the guts removed and wiring them together with a 10' cord. Retirement ended that idea.

I've toyed with those sleds for using Dewalt batteries for other purposes...they're, okish...but not something I'd want to use in a mobile situation as they're pretty flimsy in the end and don't feel solid attaching/detaching.

I am in no way saying it is a good idea, just responding to the OP's question on how it might be possible.

Sounds like a corded version of the tool is what you need.
Belt mounted battery systems have been made for some cordless tools.
The advantage, is you can still use the tool well away from 120v (or 230v) but don’t have a heavy battery directly hanging on the tool, screwing with the balance.
Cordless tools, particularly drills, usually also have more speeds than corded tools.
Also, back in the NiCd days, batteries for some tools got really heavy if you needed more than 5 minutes of run time.

OP, I just weighed a few setups here.
As follows.
Dewalt brushed hammer drill with a 5a battery, 5lb 1oz
Milwaukee m12 brushed 2 speed with a 1.5a battery 2lb 9oz
Dewalt brushless atomic compact dcd708 with a 2a battery 3lb 4oz

How does your setup compare?

Is being tethered to a battery a better solution than a minimalist lighter setup?

Hope you find what you need?

Here's a 9.6v Makita that I modified to run off of an old battery charger. I still get the narrow handle but not the off balance weight of the NiCad cell. My buddy said it was a solution to a problem that doesn't exist - but I like it!

I finished up the gutter install on my house a few years ago with it. Had the extension cord already out for other tools. Plugged in the charger and toted it around the edge of the house. Worked fine for the dozen or so screws I need to drill!
