I have a pair of 24' extension ladders and a 24' aluminum plank that lives on top of my tool trailer. Sitting out like that week after week has destroyed the fiberglass in the ladders. They are going to get replaced. I'd prefer to stick with fiberglass because it is easier to find in a 1A rating than aluminum.

Has anyone ever seen a cover that can be installed over top of an extension ladder to prevent UV deterioration in storage? I'm imagining something like an RV, A/C, snowmobile or grill cover.

Since when are 1A aluminum ladders hard to find? They’re all I’ve ever purchased, partly due to the issue you’ve described with fiberglass.

Ladder availability can vary with locality.
I was going to purchase a three part Werner fiberglass ladder, and shipping time from Lowes was over a month, maybe a month and a half.
The other issue, is that most extension ladders, whether aluminum or fiberglass, are not made or supposed to be stored outside for long periods.
Steel parts can rust, and aluminum parts can corrode.
Also, fiberglass is insulated for use around electrical wiring.

You might need to have a cover specially made.
A quick internet search doesn't show anything.
