I am looking for some exterior barn type or gas station lights for the outside of my shop, but they need to be title 24 compliant with a fluorescent bulb. I don't think the inspector will like just CFB's installed in a standard fixture. Has anyone seen these types of fixtures or bulb socket ballast kits?

Thanks!

I thought one of the selling points of CFB's was that they didn't need any special wireing or fixtures.
Unscrew the old style and screw in the CFB.

That is what I did with the yellow bulbs in the fancy fixtures on both sides of my garage door.

california has an energy code called Title 24, and it calls for exterior lighting to have a certain minimum lumens per watt, and you cant install a fixture that will accept an incandescent lamp.

I would guess it's going to be harder to find a conversion kit or parts to meet your restrictions. It would be simpler to just replace the complete fixtures with approved units.

I did a quick web search "Title 24 lights"
It looks like there are plenty of fixtures available. That are built to use a fluorescent and meet the title 24.

another thing you might want to see if you can get away with, is have the barn lights as 'accent lighting' and install a couple flourescent wall packs or something as the general lighting. its been a while since ive been through title 24, but there are some loopholes like that.

Wow, do they even let you fart when you're out in the garage anymore in CA? :lol_hitti
