Hey there. I need to install my exterior lights before my final electrical inspection. Temperatures have been zero or slightly below. Caulking the base will be difficult due to cold. Will an uncaulked light short out from snow and rain? I have metal (damp location) light boxes. I have caulking that apparently will adhere in zero and above zero temperatures.

Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. But I have never used caulking on any lights that I have installed. damp location box should have a little foam gasket or something similar and that will be lots.

Also without rain I doubt any moisture will get in there, not more than will even with caulking anyways.

Nothing will "short out" because of rain or snow. The issue is damage the water will do long term, or even short term is there is a bad enough leak.

Speedy Petey. The light cover pc will be snugged up against the siding "j" block. I will caulk as asap of it ever gets sunny and warm enough.
