Check mine out in my photo. I spliced two sets of Peak metal risers together for 17 risers. You can get these at home depot, total cost was about $200.00 and then welding including sleeve inserts at the splice. far better than any wood ones for sure. Passed building code since I put stations on the out side for no flex or bounce. You can order custom lengths through specialty fabricator companies, expect to pay $600-$800 though. Use a decks stair rise calculator program from the net, they are a big help. I can post additional photos if you need for mine. Hope this helps.
I used to live above my shop at my parents house decades ago and had a similar configuration to what has been posted by Super D. The only thing to be cognizant of in cold weather climates is snow accumulation. I would leave my snow shovel up stairs and shovel my out in the morning. Don't know how frequently you will be accessing this space, but I wish I would have included some form of weather protection over mine to minimize the snow accumulation. My place was over 23' in the air, so I had allot of steps to shovel before going to work in the morning.
