Thanks vekster that looks awsome.I wanted to do the whole garage in loglap cladding but planning wont allow it as it has to match my house ,which is a golden coloured roughcast. Hopefully they will be happy if i meet them half way lol

Here's mine with stone up 4' on just the front. Rest of the way around I have a dark brown tin going up the same height. Everyone seems to love it! :)

JMHO, but rather than do it halfway, do it all the way and enjoy the thermal benefit. My garage, like my house, is laid brick outside of regular stick walls. I dont have nor need an ounce of insulation in the walls of either the garage or house and it looks great too!

Huh? Just because bricks seal off the drafts, they do not stop the transfer of heat and cold. Insulation is still needed in a brick application.

To be honest planning would be alot happier if it was all stone but i really like wooden buildings.I wanted it all cladded like some of the craftman garages i see on here but around here it would seriously out of place and would probably piss the odd fuddy duddy off. I seen pics a while back on here of garages/houses with half stone then timber but didnt save them

Here's my barn/garage I built this summer after the first snow here in New Hampshire last weekend. My neighbor calls it the Garage-Mahal.
