All the advice I've heard for painting galvanized is "don't", but if you have to, use an etching primer.

Here is an article I found that might help... It suggest that you media blast it (with non-metallic media) as well:

Once again, this is all here-say as I haven't done it myself.

If you used same material on the roof, wouldn't just use paint, designed for a roof? Silver come to mind. If you use chemicals, just watch out for fumes.
Stay Safe.

For galvanized or tin, use an etching primer, or if you're cheap- buy some bulk ospho and dilute it, use a roller and roll it over the metal.

That's what I did.

After that, I searched and found some Dupont and Sherwin Williams Marine grade paint that was surplused out. It's dark grey color, but I didn't care about that. I then applied it over that. 4+ years later, no problem.

I believe that linseed oil paint from solventfreepaint.com would stick to that, but I need to read the product info. I seem to recall in the past that it sticks to just about anything. But, it is pricey.
