Anyone have any direct experience with a recessed exterior light? I'm looking for something to install in the soffits of my hip-roofed garage. I'll need about 8-10 so I'm looking for something affordable. Maybe low voltage is the way to go?
maybe something like ths:

I'm not having much luck finding exactly what I need so I'm looking for suggestions.
thanks.

If you want to run with recessed lighting light the light you linked to, make sure they are all IC rated. "Insulation Contact". Of course assuming the rolof has insulation.
This will prevent 2 things:
1) the heat sensor in the light will make the light go off and on as heat builds, then cools.
2) Prevents potential fire!

If they are in the soffits, there shouldn't be any insulation to contend with.
My house has about eight of them in the soffits at every corner. Basically just wet environment can lights. I run CFL floods in them.

Right, no insulation to contend with, but I'm assuming since it is outside of the building it should be something wet rated.

Although, something that runs too hot would have a tendency to heat the roof deck and melt snow, possibly causing ice dams. The soffit is ventilated so that should help.
