Ran across my first e-torx bolts today changing a valve cover gasket on a Corolla. Thought I was screwed at first but made due with a 4mm 12-point socket. Rounded one of them off but it was all I had and it got the job done. That said, how does the sizing work for e-torx? The ones I came across seem to be the same size as a T25 torx screwdriver. Any recommendations on a cheapish set? I've heard some bad things about Lisle's torx stuff here...?

I want to say a set I bought 7-8yrs ago was a Lisle set. Its got maybe 6 or 7 in a rubberish holder thats a bunch of round holes the sockets fit in. The few times ive used them for my Jeeps starter bolts worked fine.

I've got a larger SO set now that I haven't even opened yet. Mainly since I haven't had the need since I got them. One of Dads Vermeer trencher's has a ton on the Deutz engine.

i have a mac set that i bought off the truck that are made in taiwan. i paid only 55 bucks for them. i have used them a bunch doing the air tube kits on the new corollas. at least over 100 on my air ratchet and they hardly show any wear.

and going back to your valve cover gasket on the corolla...you dont have to remove the stud. yes i makes it easier, but its not necessary. just saying. but if it gives you a reason to buy more tools, im definitely for that.

It's a '99, but muska is completely right, I didn't have to take 'em off. Did make things easier though.

I have a set of the lisle male torx bits. I am not a fan. The end of them is rounded and chamfered, which would normally be a good thing, except most of the time the torx bolts have crud inside them that does not allow the bit to go down fully, resulting in stripped fasteners.
