Looking for band type oil filter wrench for a 5-7/8" diameter plastic hydraulic filter. All I have found stop a little shy of that diameter, any help appreciated.

There is another wrench that is a spring steel spiral that wraps around the can...........these will apply enough force to a stuck filter to turn the can in the pressed head ......at which point you are in trouble.............Ive had this happen several times with the fuel /water separator on the early BT6 Cummins in excavators .

OP, what's the application? Edit, duh, you said plastic hydraulic filter. Rubber strap wrench would be my weapon of choice. The filter housing on the 6.7 is plastic and I use for that. Works.

I keep a rubber strap wrench (lrg and small), the metal strap wrench (large and small), the fluted end cap wrench, a three jaw wrench and large slip joint oil filter pliers. Use them all at some point, just depends on the application and the access.

Years ago,and I don't know what happened to it.I carried it in my semi. The principle was,one inch wide wide ratchet strap material and square tubing to fit ratchet or breaking bar.You rolled up the strap,to get the excess out,put on the filter, use your tool to break loose the filter. Not fancy, not fast, but worked. The picture with the socket got me thinking, shouldn't be to hard to custom make one for your needs.I'm off to the garage to look for mine,as I never get rid of tools,L.O.L
