Im going to be ditching my mid length Mastercraft maximum for some nice high end extra long MAC or Snapon.

I like the older knuckle saver/pre knuckle saver-before they had KS stamped in it. Don't care much for the precision torque, the open end bulk is huge.

The snappys are great. I used the flank drive some time ago, never had the pleasure of using FD+.
Also I don't think the XL Snappys are FD+, only FD.
I think the MAC's are actually longer which is nice, but the head thickness appear to be larger than SO.
Can't find measurements of the MAC KS head thickness.

comparing 10mm wrenches
MAC: CLL210MMKS is 198.4mm long
SO: OEXLM10B is 186mm, and no diagram to decipher what the head thickness is.

Comparing 18mm wrenches
MAC: 298mm
SO: 314mm

Comparing 21mm wrenches
MAC: 300mm
SO: 304mm

I know MAC has some niiice longjuicy SAE size in the 1"+but they all seem to stop the XLtraditional ones past 19mm.
What are your thoughts?

I have a set of the extra long snap on combo wrenches and they are FD plus FYI. I don't know if you know it but Snap On's regular lemgth wrenches are already long and the extra long are really long.

Snap-on calls them long, but uses XL in the part number.
I have a set and a half of the Snap-on. They are terrific. Not one of my long pattern Snap-on wrenches are FD+, though.

My experience, Snap on is less likely to bend or break in an extra leverage situation and FD plus is the best in certain situations, not all the time

Snapon all day....
Bent my knuckle savers so many times I gave up and replaced them with Snapon. No more issues.
Had better luck with my Craftsman raised panels. Sure I broke a couple but they never bent.
Probably should sell the Mac's and recoup some of my money.

Well, the correct answer is TOPTUL. I sold shitloads of TOPTUL extra long combination wrench sets and everybody I sold them to loved them. I gave a set to Eric O. of South Main Auto 5 years ago and he's still using them which is the greatest endorsement a tool can received because Eric could break an anvil. I know somebody on this board still sells them look them up.

I've been impressed with a set of standard length Toptul Wrenches i purchased lately. Dont forget Rotar (Toptul factory) makes all the 440 series style wrenches for MAC Facom Sidchrome and others. I have the M Sidchrome extra long 440 series which are nice but they are chrome and not as good as the Toptul which i paid 1/5th of the price. Toptul employ that nice I-BEAM that your fingers or thumb sits so well in. I dont like hiw Snap On bends their beam to achieve the 15° offset on the box end. Its kinda just a cheap way of doing it. They used to not bend the beam and properly offset the box at 15°. Tolerance could be a fraction tighter on the Toptuls but they are well made.

Williams (part of SnapOn) has some nice long wrenches in their SuperCombo series. I like the thicker, more rounded center section and also the black oxide finish (although also available in chromeplate)

From looking at eBay, it looks like they come from Poland? How does one get a Toptul tool to try? An internet search shows they're made in Taiwan? They look like the Jonnesway brand I've seen on eBay.

Amazon has the XL metric set too available from WRENHandTools.com

Not nearly as cheap as when Denny sold them though

I love my chrome Williams Super Combos. They are the best feeling wrenches I've ever used. I finger the snapon wrenches ever time I'm on the truck and they just don't feel as nice as the Williams. The handles are thick with a radius going from 1 edge to the other with no hard edges compared to a snapon wrench.

The Willams Super Combo wrenches
10mm 171mm long
18mm 267mm long
21mm 299mm long

The standard set I have feels longer than most wrenches in the shorter than 3/4" lengths and pretty standard length 3/4" and longer. The set I have and use daily I wouldn't want any longer than they are without a set of short wrenches in my collection. The stain Williams wrenches are a different animal and made in Twain vs made in USA, not bad though nowhere near as nice as the super combos.

Definitely find a Williams Super Combo before spending your dollars.

I have two sets of XL comb wrenches in metric, one Toptul (bought off Dennis) and one Armstrong. Really like both, but the Toptul were much cheaper. I would like to have an XL Armstong set of SAE, but prices now are getting ridiculous for them now on Ebay.

Toptul set number GAAF1008 (length converted to inches).
AAEL1010 10mm 7.36
AAEL1111 11mm 8.07
AAEL1212 12mm 8.77

AAEL1717 17mm 12.28
AAEL1818 18mm 13.03
AAEL1919 19mm 13.66
