Extra Long Hex Drivers

Hey Guys!

I have been on the hunt for some extra long hex drivers for my 1/4" electric impact nut driver. Basically what i am looking for is an extra long version of the attached image with the detent cutout.

The closest thing i can locate are long drivers with a 1/4" square drive, but that doesn't fit without an adapter in the driver.

Is anybody able to locate a SAE and a metric set of these? I am coming up dry.

Fastenal has some 6" and a 9" #2 phillips. Malco makes some too. Would an extension work? I use one made by milwaukee, about 12" long.

Hmmm I haven't tried Fastenal yet.

The whole reason for the extra long driver is to access fasteners that are recessed 3" down under the surface with 1/4" access holes. Not quite enough to fit an extension down inside.

Ideally these things would be at least 4-5" long to give some extra wiggle room.

Wera makes them in 2", 3 1/2" and 6". Both metric and imperial. 840/4 Z bits. Google that number. The picture usually shows a 2" regardless of the actual length. That is the series number, here is a bit number for the 3/16" ball detent 6" 380048.

Apex also makes these and a whole lot of other hex drive bits

Does both ends of the bit need to be hex? One end 1/4 inch hex for the driver and the other end hex for the fastener?

Not the OP, but yes.

I think the "hex" is a little confusing. Pretty sure this is 1/4" hex drive, ball detent with "Allen" (hex) fastener end in at least a 4" length.

Not the OP, but yes.

In that case, Apex has power drive hex bits from 1-15/16 to 8 inches long.

There is many to choose from, exact length required by the OP would help and how extensive the set needs to be.
