Any particular reason for not wanting 12 point? Ratchet wrenches aren't really for ragging on like a breaker bar

I have an extra long 12 point TONE (Japan) set already; they are amazing.

In the rust belt 6 point makes a big difference. I have a fixed set of 6 point wrenches (regular length), that have easily removed nuts and bolts 12 point wrenches stripped out.

Having a mixture of both would be nice.

Those Tektons look amazing, but I would worry that the flex joint might break if you pull hard on a stuck fastener. I know, it is not made to be used as a breaker bar. But that extra long length gives a lot of leverage, and the flex joint is the weak link. :headscrat

Why did I open this thread? Now I want a set, too.

Where did you find the Tone wrenches? I've had trouble finding any Tone tools online except for a very small selection.

A 6 pt ratchet wrench would be very bulky, now if they made it a 6 pt regular box & a 12 pt ratcheting on a long wrench, I'd buy them.

That would be the best of both worlds. I can’t find any evidence that anybody has ever combined those features. I hate that spline is becoming so popular.

I bought the mountain brand long flex ones with lifetime warranty from tooltophia...works great and save some knuckle bleeding and almost now don't use the regular wrenches.. Yes.. This is 12 point but I like the flush side and raised side option...for different conditions..

Great suggestion, thanks! Wish they were also flex head, but its not a deal breaker.

Amazon JP, they ship internationally if fulfilled by Amazon:

Tone also sells rebuild kits if the ratcheting end ever breaks.

I love my set.

Another alternative is global rakuten https://global.rakuten.com/en/search/?k=RMA400L&l-id=search_regular

I've got the Tekton sets. While the joint has to be a weak point, I have on a couple occasions pulled on them to the point I was expecting pieces to start flying, but so far they've held. I don't make it a practice though.

As for 6 point vs 12, initially I didn't like the 6 point. When working on a difficult to reach bolt its twice as difficult to get it lined up, and a flex head tends to pop off more often. However, after some use I feel like even though it pops off the bolt frequently, it does it less often than a 12 point would.

+1 I have both the standard and metric versions and I use them all the time. So far no issues and I have put a lot of torque on them. IF Snapon offered a similar set they'd be $500+.

I chose the Tektons because I am in the rust belt. I would rather bust a wrench head than round a bolt head. That can make for a bad day. Like Steiger9, I find engaging the 6 point head somewhat annoying but most annoying is the even/odd double head sizing as I am often off one millimeter when eyeballing a fastener head. Otherwise, they have been great wrenches and I've yet to blow one up.

I have some regrets for not choosing Mountain reversible spline drives. I have heard nothing but good about them and understand all twelve teeth engage the flats of a bolt head nicely. The extended barrel is where they really stand out. But then, it's not like I paid 4 bills for the Tektons and I'm stuck with them. I'll probably get the Mountains too keeping the Tektons around for the real scarry looking rusted ****.

I just used my Tektons to tension the main belt on an '05 Civic 1.7. The flex head and extra length was extremely helpful, esp to remove the PS pump on top which has to come off first.
