I was removing a car door handle today, and the torx screw was in the deep recess. The socket barely fit. I had to use a thinner one I had as a backup.
I want an extra long Torx bit.
The advantage of the screw driver design is the thin shank allows you to see into a recess, unless the socket base, which blocks view.
Then again, with an extra long bit, the socket would not be inside the recess, it would be outside, and only the thin shank would be inside.
