Hello everyone my name is Tom, I have been on the site anonymously for quite some time and finally stopped being lazy and registered lol, I was wondering if anyone here has purchased the extreme tools EX5511RC 55" 11 drawer from strictlytoolboxes, my 30 year old snap on box just isn't holding up to the professional scene well these days and I want to move into something more modern, I really like this box and the reviews seem solid on their site but was wondering what you guys think.

Thanks!

I wanted that box so bad...

If you want a great, super heavy duty roller, you can do a lot worse, but not much better...

30" deep, 300/600 pound drawer weights, nearly 900 pounds, empty!!!

I wanted one so badly, I saved the pictures!!!

Buy it, you'll love it!!!

But...

I don't like you --- very much!!!:evil::mad:

so what's the point of this? need to tow it anywhere in the shop?
ask for help at slightest bump?
store lead in the drawers?

I know, it's a disguised boat anchor ;)

I thought of buying one of these, but was concerned I wouldn't be able to get it off of the pallet, and I wouldn't be able to lift the top toolbox on top of the lower toolbox. The combination of upper and lower toolbox together weighs 1600 lbs, and with just the wife and I at home these days there was no way I would have been able to lift the top toolbox on to the lower toolbox. I even looked into renting an engine hoist to help lift it up there, but the small town I live in didn't even have a place that rented engine hoist.

Extreme Tools makes three versions of their 56" toolbox. They make an RXE version that weighs 565 lbs, a standard version that weighs 705 lbs, and a Professional version that weighs 1600 lbs. I decided to buy the standard version, and I'm more than happy with it. I have a steep driveway, and even with just the 700 lb toolbox I bought we had to use the pallet jack from the shipping company, and a winch from my ATV to winch it up the driveway and into the garage. I can't even imagine having a 1600 lb toolbox.

Yea I have been nerding out over this thing, don't be jelly! :beer:

can you give those of us looking at older boxes some idea of what are your issues with your order box?

there are still quite a lot of 30 year old boxes on the market.

thanx.

Well it's a snap on double bank, I don't remember the model but it's like a 50" x 25" and like 15 drawer, this box doesn't have rollers it has the old slides, except the bottom drawer it has rollers, the detents are bad on the roller drawer so it creeps open and the other slides don't lock properly so if you pull the drawer open quickly the drawer can fly out of the box completely, and I am a heavy equipment mechanic so my tools are heavy too and if a drawer falls out on me I'm going to the hospital lol, other than that I'm just out of room in the box and want modern roller drawers. The slides + heavy tools = hard to pull out.
